biout thin/thick hair dreading easiest. all i can say is mines very very very very very thick and dreaded like crazy really quickly now my beard, thats not only thick, but very coarse and soon as it got to like 4 inches began to dread on its own some heads love to dread thats all there is to it dint matter thick or thin fine or coarse they just dread cause thats what they meant to do. dreads have theyre roots in mysticism and a mystical mindset cant be discountrd when it comes to dreading. if ya ask a rasta how do ya grow dreads the responce might be something like praise jah chant down babylon\ eat ital keep possitive in all yourt thiughts and deeds jah will take care of the rest. all im saying here is its as much an internal journey as an external one. its a dedication not only to your hair but to your self as well
I'm pretty sure there is no reason to discount somebody's beliefs with no provocation, no reason. it bothers me when people post simply nasty things with no other substance to the message. tell us about your beliefs, your opinions, your experiences. that's why the internet is great, people from everywhere and of every mindset can share information and stories. but don't just come in and spew nastiness.
btw, didn't mean any offense by that. I'm just saying my dreadlocks have absolutely nothing to do with spirituality. It's just hair, and it's just a hairstyle. If it holds spiritual significance for you personally, thats fine and dandy but its still just a hairstyle. * edit, Damnit, you got to it before I could elaborate.
I'm certainly not trying to be nasty. All I'm arguing is that atheists can have just as good a head of hair on them than anyone else. Relax darthkacie. Not tryin to be offensive. :cheers2:
right on. it definitely makes more sense after you clarified. and I totally respect that! I just see a lot of people about in the world simply .. being nasty. and maybe I'm just cranky or particularly sensitive to it today, but idk, I'll shut up now. :]
Nooo no no, just genuinely frustratingly curious! No it was directed at anyone with answers lol and definitely no hostility there. Sorry if it came over that way!
lol I don't know coz I was too busy thinking "Noooo I didn't mean to seem hostile!!!" *goes to check*
at risk of sounding controversial.... no-one here has "natural" dreads, not even SE, so deal with it ... if natural were to be defined as letting them do what they want, then we would all have a massive mono dread pillow type thing on the back of our head, where the hair has all matted up.... so therefore even ripping isnt natural, as your stopping the hair do what it wants and your tailoring your hair to suit you... so there you go, leave your elitist attitudes at home folks because unless you have a big hair pillow you are no more natural then anyone else so lets just join together and hold hands and rejoice in the fact that its all cleared up now and we can stop worrying about it, dreads is dreads innit
I couldnt agree more, even if some people discount this, having a positive attitude will help in anything you do. Were more mystic then we relize sometimes. Ever heard of sun gazing?
Luxiebow, Just comb out your hair and start over. It's obvious that you wish you had natural dreads, and you regret how you started yours. So now your trying to bring up the idea that it's IMPOSSIBLE for some people to get natural locks! You are ridiculous! There's still time for you to be happy.
Lets try steerin' this thread back to a sort of calm coolness, man. I mean its not like any of us looks like. Its whatever makes you happy man
I just can't listen to people put down the dreading process. This is a dread forum. Dreads are natural. That's it guys.
