If you polled gun owners and only gun owners then, yes, I suspect that opinion would be in the majority. The entire nation though? Not so much.
Well, I would agree it is a factor in the majority of gun owners decision to own a gun, but like I said earlier: I think somewhere in gun owners reasoning it is the majority opinion. Perhaps not the overwhelming reason. Well, I've read that there were 33 people shot dead by police from 1995-2010. You can find more up to date info if you like. Lets say 40 people upto 2013. And there are approx 50-60 people killed by firearms every year. How did the 40percent figure manifest itself?
The President could have handled the run-up to The Sequester better, its been coming at us since late 2011. Opportunities were there to re-shuffle the priorities of the cuts an the opportunities were allowed to pass. He appears petulant, like a child because he is not getting more tax dollars. Well spending has been going up and up for the last 12 years There is certainly enough waste and duplication to avoid, say. canceling White House Tours and such.
Well, what would you cut? Everyone says they want cuts, but the only specific cuts mentioned are the ones that would hurt the poor, sick, elderly, and veterans. Why? No one dares to cut things that help rich people? Such dishonest politics, especially on the Republican side.
Both parties are to blame for this mess. No one side owns it any more than the other. As far as what I would cut, I think there is much of our military budget we could cut and make more efficient.
I'm constantly advocating that 100% deductability of real estate tax for the purpose of federal taxation is wrong.....I would give The President & the feds the ability to tighten this loophole. The deduction ought to be indexed some how. 100% deductability creates too many distortions in the economy, The US is over-invested in large houses that consume too much materiel and energy. to the exclusion of building smaller houses. Trouble is that its the Blue (rich) states with big R.E. tax bills Capping deductability would hit Democrats and the government workers in those blue states.............. We sit on an impass on this matter,
I would put the huge giveaways to the oil and gas companies at the top of the list to cut. I see that as pure corruption and waste. Does anyone really think they need it or that gas prices would go up?
Gas prices go up, because of speculation that oil prices are going to go up!But yeah, I agree with your premise that the government works for these corrupt industries!!
I'd give it about a C+. The price of energy is artificially low because of several factors, one being that they are taxed at 18% rather than the 35% top corporate, and much of this money is sheltered overseas, so much of their legitimate US income isn't taxed. The main problem I see of prices being artificially low is a low incentive to invest in alternative energy until it's too late. Or too later.
I gave a speech my first year of college; I had actually interviewed a Scientist was working on alternatives for oil. He told me about Fusion Fuel, (the process of combining deuterium and helium-3, in an attempt to achieve perpetual motion. However, it is currently undeveloped as it uses just a little more energy then it gives off; Of course, we should use wind and solar power to power houses, in contrast, big industries would still need a lot of oil.
I wish he'd work harder on getting us out of the middle east and close Guantanamo Bay already. I wish he'd legalize marijuanna on a federal level and make Gay marriage legal in all states. But I know I'm asking a lot... I voted for him both times, and overall I approve except for the drones.
Obama is seriously the status quo. I voted for him the First time but then is became obvious to me that he was a war monger just like Bush. He's expanded the Presidents power ten fold!!
