I get my information from community news sites like ShoutWire. But even there you should question everything.
It depends on if you feel you are strong-minded or not. I believe that they really try to control and manipulate as many as they can--consequences be damned!
definitely. media is everywhere, you cant avoid it. i dont care who you are, completely strong minded people who are not affected at all by the media are practically non-existant. your beliefs and what you decide to buy or wear are influenced by what you see, not just through tv or magazines. but by your friends or what you see just walking down the street. just think about what you had for breakfast this morning. what compelled you to have whatever you decided to eat for breakfast. or whatever restaraunt you may have went to. what you wore when you went to that restaurant. how you did your hair. etc. other than controlling what you eat for breakfast... everyones brainwashed to live the way the government wants you to under the illusion of freedom i mean, this applys to everyone unless youre living in a far off cave somewhere... _____________
Man fuck tv, i used to watch it alot as a kid but its very different now. 3 Months ago i called my cable company and told them to get this shit out of my house. Commericals ruined it for me. The constant message that ALL commericals seem to give, "you are my friend, you are special, so call this and buy this, you will be more happy when i have your money" I cant even stand the news, id rather read the paper or something on the computer. The news is murder, rape, murder, more rape, death, people suffering, then we get the weather. It blows me away how many people still wait for that one tv show. And now its all "reality" just the name makes me laugh, seriously, REALITY? LOL please i dont know how people enjoy that crap.
That's an option open to all of us today, it might not be there tomorrow, marketers and politicians want to control it. Bush turned congress against Moveon.org just because of an ad that stated the facts.
Hillary decries the voice of the people that voted for that ad, she doesn't think anyone should be able to say anything against a soldier in uniform. Guess what I don't think a uniform makes you a god.
It controls those who don't ask questions and can't think for themselves. Which is unfortunately, a large percentage of the population. People take what they see on TV as gospel, which is incredibly worrying.
Yes the media is trying to control our minds The movie Videodrome, directed by David Cronenberg is an allegory on the modern media, and the "Cathode Ray Mission” (for the homeless) really is necessary to keep the homeless sane. Without a regular daily dose of TV, the homeless (most who grew up on a regular dose of TV) would go insane without their daily fix h
Funny how the anti-war protests weren't covered, but the Iranian President's visit and the accompanying protests filled the airwaves. Ever heard of this amendment, you may well know about it after our country expands it's wars. And more of your children are sent to middle east to die in the name of oil and Israeli interests. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/...-proposal-is-dick-cheneys-fondest-pipe-dream/
My old man believes everything he read in "The Guardian".Years of brainwashing has left him with an intense hatred of cars even though he is dependent on cars.If they were to run a campaign against canned food and he was in the situation of having nothing to eat but canned food, he would choose to starve.
in a WAY. they somewhat control our way of seeing "beauty" with the way they portray these anorexic celebrities. so, to an extent, i say sure.
No, the media doesn't, and never has controlled our minds. Maybe one day, but not now. Who decides what goes on in your life? Not the Media. Who decides what you eat for breakfast? Not the Media. Who decides what you wear/do/think/say? Not the Media. YOU! You guys are so fucking stupid. Stop chasing some fairyboy conspiracy to entertain your sorry asses. There are so much better things to worry about. Tell you what, watch Tv, read the paper, and watch the O'reilly Factor for a month and tell me if you feel any different than you did before, other than gaining a few pounds ;-)
This point of view comes from an urban society. Yes the media does control our lives in a way that it is all around us. You would have to be blind and dumb to not question it at all. Where ever you look now a days you see people wearing sunglasses much to large for their face, people wearing pant's around their ankles. You see people of my generation claiming to be Skaters, Emo's, Hippie's, thug's, etc. You name the life style the media created for you to live, all you did was choose to do it, or not.
Almost every single persons opinion is based on what they see on tv. And not only is the media controlling peoples minds so are churches and some schools. You might not think so but its true. We never get the real truth. Major media is forced to check with Washington DC to see what has been cleared for publication by the government. If they choose to ignore this policy, their careers are instantly cut off.
