What is annoying to me t hese days is when they ask you for a donation in the streets or at your doorstep they almost always ask for your email. It's usually a worthy cause but i just wanna give a small donation. Not get some kind of subscription.
In most western countries including Australia. If the goverment does not need to ration a medicine anyone would get it correct? If there was a shortage them maybe it would only be kids. Not sure why this upsets you so much.
No, i rather tell them the truth. After all, i wanna give. But i hate a fifteen minute explanation at my doorstep about why i should sign up for giving a digital contribution, which i can easily stop by signing off. No, i don't care how easily i can sign off. If i want to see what happens with donations I look up your organisations website myself. Don't need a monthly email. I don't want to be connected to every good cause I contribute to. I just want to give something (certainly when they take the effort to walk door to door for a worthy cause) and be done with it. But guess what: they often leave my door without a donation because most don't come with a collection box (is that what its called in english? ) anymore.
That was in response to you saying: "Anyone alive has equal rights to aid and healthcare" So, in most western countries including Australia anyone alive has equal rights to aid and health care I will let you do your own home work; UK vs Aus vs US, say one has a car accident, requires a major operation, 12 months in hospital, how much would it end up costing someone. Healthcare situation is better in Aus than most countries, until some major happens. And I think you know there are many Americans that will scoff at what you just said Do some homework for eggsprogg while you are at it, he said kids get cancer too, How much money over the last 50 years has gone to Leukemia research vs Breast Cancer vs Prostate Cancer. Everyone has equal rights? I think you already know roughly what the answer is going to be
I don't mind it. But i stop their talk pretty soon and ask skip the why and for what first and tell me what you want me to do. If its a donation i can give right away i probably let them continue their talk. If i have to sign up for something i have to say im sorry.
you want him to give out your email address? back when i delivered pizzas, i never used the doorbell because about 50% of the time it didn't work anyway. one woman actually called the store and bitched out my boss because i had "knocked on her door like a criminal." all this time i thought she was crazy, now i know she was just australian.
I can't say I have ever bean in an Australian hospital. But in general tax paid healthcare is the equality I talk about. I know many countries are better than America. If it's not perfect now it does not mean it can not be fixed. We can change the world if we want. A lot of little things add up. I would rather be optimistic than angry. Who will fix a problem if not me? More people need to think like this.
I try to give to an animal shelter on Long Island and the USO for our veterans and soldiers whenever I can.
