And, no, I don't necessarily think that becoming a visible member of the resistance is counterproductive. I don't see the approach you advocate doing much more than loading up servers worldwide with a lot of verbiage.

It is my SINCERE opinion that invisible resistance is no resistance at all; the point is to get the resistance into the collective consciousness of "the sheeple;" those who are easily swayed by the images that bombard them daily on the tube. The point is to be in their faces demanding change, not to wait and "correct our problems the right way," whatever THAT is. The point is to get as radical as the opposition.

If I voted Republican, do you think I would be advocating opposition to the Rethuglicans? Stop and think before you post. And, starting a sentence with a coordinating conjunction or a preposition is a stylistic choice, which you will perhaps learn to appreciate someday.

Additionally, on a purely written medium such as the net, absent any other indicators, spelling and syntax generally reflect the writer's intelligence and education. I know several people with dyslexia, one of whom is a pHD in Physics and another a professor of Philosophy, who somehow manage to make their posts readable. If you wish to use it as a crutch and an excuse, so be it. Keep in mind that people are less apt to take what you have to say seriously.

Let it ride, bro. I was not dissimilar when I was his age. I tweaked every nose I could find. I was tripping and getting gassed in DC and generally resisting fascism in all its forms. I suspect his heart is there as well, but maybe he's frustrated because he's still looking for his place in the sun, you know? Rather than quash his enthusiasm, let us help him channel it into something productive. I know I certainly (but, arrogant little fuck that I was, refused to acknowledge the fact that I) needed some guidance. So much juice is developed when tripping often and hard and it needs a place to go. Not saying that that is GS's thing, but maybe he could use a little mentoring.

But I do agree that perhaps some of our younger brethren could take a break from the Mirror of Self-Absorption and listen to us Eldern from time to time. We HAVE learned a thing or two.

A slight aside: I suppose SATs are relevant if you are just passing through Hippie on the way to Lawyer/Legislature/Doctor/Chief, but they say nothing about the heart. And if one needs to cite one's SATs for validation, one has missed the whole point of Hippie. So why are you here? (you in the general sense.)

Hippie is more about acceptance than achievement. Maybe someday I'll tell you the story of Chip and Coyote, 2 years spent traversing the country from Haight-Ashbury to fasting 3 days and then eating acid on the Continental Divide in Colorado, to getting tripped up and beaten to the floor by a little 13 year old vixen with a hand full of Holy Acid in New Orleans, to going to Bluegrass Festivals in N. Carolina, to splitting a couple 2000 microgram hits of paper towel blotter with Brother Andrew in Woodstock, Virginia.

Goodness gracious, I don't know where to start. Well, WASP is a good place. The telling statement is "...we don't take a stand because WE DON'T CARE." And, to be honest, I have days like that as well, where it doesn't matter how many skyscrapers are taken out by hijacked planes, how many troops are sent to their deaths, how many women world-wide are raped, beaten, and killed by the men who are supposed to protect them, how many people in the US lose their property because some over-zealous pigs misinterpret the RICO ststute, and the public lets it happen, ...and so on. I could become jaded and blase about everything, and just retreat into my sensi buzz and say "fuck it," but I don't.

Two years ago, in August, I went to Germany for 5 weeks as a gift to myself for having survived 50 years. I spent a week of it in Berlin, where my grandmother was born. I suppose I could have gone clubbing and gotten wasted, but instead I did shit like going to Wannsee and seeing der Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz, where a couple handsfull of WASP and Katolische German men decided to kill all the Jewish people in Europe. And damn near succeeded.

Of course, Good "Ole Adolf wasn't elected into office by your age group/demographics. It was the people who lived through the darkness of the German depression that put him into power. But if enough people would have stood up and said, "No, you stole the election, you stand for everything I'm opposed to, I'm not going to let you get away with this" then things might have been different.

I get the feeling I'm wasting my time here, so I'll say this: If people like me make you sick, people like you, who don't even try to change things because it's much easier to sit around and grouse about people like me, sadden me.
