I can't say I was ever into Coolio minus Gangster's Paradise, but someone mentioned Dangerous Minds the other night, and no one had listened to that song in a long time so it was declared that the song had to be blasted and it made us wonder what the hell ever happened to that guy. For the record though Gangster's Paradise was a great song

the hip sop i listen to is limited to atmosphere.
maybe a lil sage francis, subtle, and sole.
but atmosphere is my favourite by far.

I'm more into the underground stuff 9th Wonder, Atmosphere, Murs, Quasimoto and old school Tribe called Quest, De La Soul, Camp Lo, NWA, Snoop Dogg(old school), Skillz. I like a few popular artist though Twista, Lil Wayne, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli.

Talib isn't as popular as he should be.

I dont really like Camp Lo except for the song Coolie High and a couple others...they got a funny vibe

Quasimoto mode, overload. madlib is a weird ass dude

he's getting there, but imo he's one of the absolute best, with very few misses (engine runnin off the liberation album wasn't my thing)

so yeah, he's getting more and more recognition, but not as much as he deserves.

definitely was the reflection eternal album that really started a love of hip hop back when i was in highschool

getting there? eh...he gets attention here and there, but he has always had that glimpses of lime light. but its all good, he gets the attention of those who matter. i dont want him on MTV anyways, and i dont think he wants to be there either. he's like 40 man so he's def not "getting there" lol he's more like "almost got there" ahaha

engine runnin was a bad song - but even our favorite, most highly regarded artists can make music that you absolutely hate. i believe j dilla was the one that said that...

    reflection eternal man...good shit. i love hi-tek
blackstar is fuckin eternal as well

yes yes yes absolutely. my fav song off it as well

yeah, he is getting old, but who cares? idk, though...i don't really follow much in the music world, but i thought eardrum got a lot of attention. i mean, i saw displays for it even in department stores like target and stuff when it came out. and he worked with a ton of big names on that, too. but again, i don't follow the media and probably don't have the best concept of what is or is not truly popular. but i've also heard that song "get by" from quality in the places i least expected sometimes

thats what im sayin....like he gets the marketing attention or whatever but not the commercial success...but i dont think its a bad thing.

talib is popular with the people that dig hiphop as hiphop, not chart busting, record selling number crap and thats what matters

i love hip-hop, especially east coast stuff. i'm a fan of old-school style production, two turntables and maybe a sampler, i'm really not feeling all this shit they play in clubs and shit nowadays.

No, I rarely like hip hop and rap. I do like RATM's debute, which of course is not hip hop but vocals are rap. Also, I think I would really enjoy a band like Cypress hill live.
