Have to say I have loved reading this thread it is great, and I shall add to the gun porn. I only personally own one, Sig 226 .40 going to apply for my concealed carry in a month or so. But my family owns a lot. I will leave it at that, have been around them most my life.
Also, (for those who wish to share) what's your favorite way to conceal? I have an "inside the pants" holster, but I usually just end up putting it just inside the back of my pants.
My concealed carry holster that should be appearing in the pictures is a Blackhawk serpa, they are pretty awesome molded to the specific gun with a trigger finger release. I like it a lot and it keeps it quite secure. But for a smaller gun a inside waistband one would probably work. Still not sure why you can't see the pics, may have to edit it.
Bravo! Lol. I haven't fired at a paper target in a while. I like the hanging metal plates outside. The *ting! ting! ting!* makes me all giddy.
I would love to go to a target range like that but where I am at right now there is a range quite close and that is what they got. Once i get settled at my new place out in the boonies, THEN i will be having some fun!
I found out that to use the little ejector rod to eject spent shells on revolvers is a good thing. When giving my son a safety lesson inside the house ,I just turned the gun up and let them fall out. One DID NOT fall out and I killed a couch, a wall and a refrigerator with it!! S& W 38 special. Dumb.
Its a fact more people get shot by handling and cleaning their guns. Lucky there wasn't any in the line of the bullet. .38 specials are a dangerous round though to, A lot of powder and casing for such a small slug.
Pretty much canceled out the "safety lesson" part. I've had guns since the age of 10, fired expert with an M1,blah blah. Just takes a simple mistake like I made to end in tragedy.
I had a friend die from gunshot to the face while cleaning his gun. Bad technique and poor decisions are serious business.
At least next time, If there is, You will be 110% sure before you bring it out. It was an accident, They happen. You're not the first to have a flounder round that went off. My father has done it and many others. The more you handle them, The more cautious you have to be.
Reminds me of an article I read in Guns & Ammo some time in the mid '80's. Some guy who was one of the early pioneers of developing new guns/ammunition/etc. had developed a round and rifle that was a .22 caliber projectile sitting atop a small ICBM looking case that exited the barrel at well over 6500 FPS. He named the round the eargasplittinloudenboomer and they could only gets 4-5 shots from a barrel before it was burned out. LOL. Sounds like it would have been fun!
