Love my smartphone, best tech invnention in the last 20 years

Long gone are the days stuck in the corner of my bedroom addicted to the net. Now i can totally waste my time doing nothing of any importance on the net from anywhere

Another thing about the old phones and SMS is that sms messages only cost the carrier a fraction of a cent. They are one of the most over inflated things you can pay for

i have never had a more fancy phone than a flip phone (or a side-flip like the envy)

i use my laptop for the internet. i never felt the need for it in my pocket really, especially for the cost of it.

my brother has an old phone like mine, and a small ipod that he uses for a camera, music, snapchat, candy crush. so the ipod is like a smart phone minus the phone.

my wife got a droid razr and it's a piece of garbage. camera broke, it has had other various problems.

by this point almost everyone has a smart phone...so i can just ask someone else to google it for me. and people will sometimes even race each other to the result! :)

    I noticed.

I've just ordered a 5" smartphone, so the question of size will become apparent to me pretty quickly, I imagine.
At the moment, I tend to take out what I need for that particular time.
If I'm out shopping, I don't really need a full on 7" tablet.
If I'm going to work, then it is convenient (lighter than a laptop) to take a tablet.
I understand about having to carry something larger (a tablet, for e.g) in a bag, but you can have a smaller 'man bag' or a shoulder/waist pouch instead...

Women have been doing that (carrying bags) for YEARS...why not men?

Just about finding the right balance...

One thing that generally is pot luck: The camera. Only My Samsung smartphones have had decent cameras. All the tablets I have had, the cameras have been shit. The 5" smartphone I bought has a 8 mega pixel camera, so fingers crossed it is decent.

The formula for fantastic photos comes down to the entire camera module, which includes the size and material of the main camera lens, the light sensor, the image processing hardware, and the software that ties it all together.

I don't have that one in the picture.
    Although it does look awesome.
    Mine looks like this:

It was sold to me as a Messenger Bag Small Cross Body Tote

Not EVERYBODY thinks a man carrying a messenger bag or the majority of bags in that link etc is gay...

    I'm saying the joke is a bit stale in 2014... :) ;)

Why the "need" to be "connected" 24/7 ???

I fucking loath phones. They fall into the same category as cars for me, a necessary evil in today's urban world.
I loath even more this neurotic need to always "be connected".

What the fuck ya gonna do when the big fat MCE wipes out all those nifty, albeit rather delicate, gadgets?

    Smoke signals anyone :sunny:

I think you might be venting at the wrong person.
I don't feel the need to be 'connected' 24/7.
If I had a job that was a 9-5 Mon/Fri - I really would not be that bothered if I had one.
However, I don't have that life, so I do need one.
I didn't have a 'smartphone' till last year.
So I got on that bus a bit late in the game.
I do get a little bit sucked in with it, I have to say.
Only because I use the internet more than the average person.
So it does kinda take the place of my laptop, PC, or Tablet.
Devices that you generally have off 2/3rds (or more) of the day.
The mere fact a mobile phone is usually on 24/7 is the reason I am 'connected' 24/7.

The whole point here is for me to REDUCE the No. of devices I have.
At the moment it is the limitations of the devices software that require me to have more devices.

Think about where your own life would be if you did not have a phone.
About 2/3rds of the worlds population does not, and look where they are : /

Don't most have a screen the size of a walnut?

Does the fact mine is in a case mean my phone is a 'flip phone'?
