man I've been browsing HF for such a long time. I remember being at 500 posts though. I really used to only post long posts on synthetic drugs and my art thread, so I didn't get a big post count until I started posting in RT everyday. Now I'm hooked.

Man sometimes I think that HF is a kinda antiquated forum to be investing so much time in, but for some reason I still love it. I think its because there's lots going on behind the scenes. I mean we don't have perfect beautiful (fascist-controlled) posts like SA 5 or 10 years ago, but we have such a rich PM and profile post thing going on in our community and I've met mutliple good friends here and I'm like getting a swap box in the mail and all that. We're definitely a cool forum. It just takes not being a noob to figure it out.

I started lurking in '08, and joined here either in late 08 or 09 under a different name. When I made this account, this place was quite different. Lot of shit going on in RT and the like. Somehow, I managed to avoid any of the crap and I never had a problem with epic douchiness. In fact, it made this place interesting, and it wasn't bad as long as you had a sense of humor (with some notable exceptions). I stopped coming here after a lot of the mass banning, since things weren't as fast paced and lot of my favorite posters left.

Then I came back this summer, randomly. I don't know why I chose to stay, but I'm glad I did .

I forgot about the dread forum. It used to be much more active. What ever happened to that?

It seems like ever since the Big Ban, things have been a lot more quiet around here. Not so many epic threads, fighting, loving, bashing and pages of humorous banter going on anymore.

 

I stopped posting here for three years right around the time of all the mass bannings and stuff from 2009... not because of the mass bannings.. but simply because this place really, just annoyed me back then and I had other stuff to do.
Anyways, yeah, I randomly started posting again last May or June or so (e even though I created this name a year earlier and I think made one post or two...).

 

it's def. different since I came back... in some ways, people are much nicer and that's good. Less total douchbags around. But at the same time I miss some of the old posters and it's def. not as interesting as it used to be here.

 

The atmosphere seems indeed a bit friendlier nowadays, but mostly it was in jest anyway. Noobs usually didn't get that kind of subtle humor, so I think we drove lots of potentially great posters-to-come away.

In the height of the dread forum, there was only really one other place to go on the nets for dread help besides here.

The schism happened in 2007? and many of the members left here and formed a WAY better dreadlock forum. A year after that, another hipper left and made a less than stellar dreadlock forum but for whatever reason, it's really popular.

People now have options. It's a real shame because all of that awesomeness could have been done right here but Skip saw making a sister site about dreads as a threat to the forum and not something that would have brought in more traffic, let a lone great information and the ability to really help people.

 

I was asked today to go back to the old forum...that was I missed...Just cannot make that same journey again....in the same way.....I happily did come out of that place with a couple of lifetime female friends, though.....
