got mine last week people who think flu shots are bad for you are idiots who buy into nonsense FLU SHOTS DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM
I think people are talking about other vaccines, the standard ones every kid gets. Smallpox and whatever else. Which may or may not be true, I don't know enough about it to say either way. And I'm not a scientist. I had a coworker (he just got fired) who won't vaccinate his kids and they are going to home school them because of that. He also won't own a smart phone because of the gov't spying. He has a little prepaid flip phone.
I don't really think anyone with a healthy immune system needs the flu shot. The elderly and people with compromised immune systems benefit from it. Healthy people in the prime of their life will at most spend a week in bed with the flu. They aren't going to die from it. I can understand why companies push the flu shot on their employees - taking sick days for the flu effects productivity. My company gives free flu shots but we don't have to take it. I've only had the flu once. At that point I had never had the flu vaccine. I did get it in the three years following the flu because I worked in a healthcare setting at the time. when I had the flu it was horrible - fever, chills, awful body aches, this dry, unproductive cough that made me feel like my lungs were on fire. But my mom made me soup and I lived. I also think the chicken pox vaccine is completely unnecessary. Chicken pox used to be a rite of passage for a 3 year old.
I have only gotten it when it was free. Maybe 6 or 7 times as an adult. Cant remember the last time i had the flu.
I have gotten the flu shot for the last several years as I became more involved in helping care for my parents. Mom was in a nursing home the last couple years of her life and Dad has been in and out of hospital and rehab a few times over the last few years. I always thought getting the shot was the responsible thing to do in my case but I have never had the flu.
This. You don't really need to create a vaccination campaign for something that is just one step up from a common cold.
Never had one, never felt like I needed one.. You get the flu, you feel like shit for a while, you get better. Last vaccination I had was meningitis when I was too young to legally say no. After that, nothing. Not like I think they don't work, or that they're harmful, I just don't want any. No reason needed.
I have been I had a weak immune system once and felt in a category to get a flu shot (like Bird said, no healthy person here gets one, except elderly or other people with lowered immune systems). So I went and got the shot and got the flu in the next week. Never got one again.
Why Would Somebody As Young And Healthy As You Appear In Your Profile Pic's Have A Weak Immune System... Cheers Glen.
hell yes...every year....because I am round lotsa kid relatives...don't want those little buggers to get me sick
I was sick and that caused me to temporarily fell in a category for people to whom it's recommended to get the flu shot. I thought well why not. I think I might have worded it wrong, my body was just more vulnerable due to that. Hmm, that's a weak immune system right? In any case it was nothing life threatening.
I was very interested in reading if you posted to this thread. You've lived in different countries, right? About the shots, I'm glad to hear it ^. I've never had a flu shot. I can't remember having it but maybe once in the last 10 years, and it wasn't as bad as some people have it.
I should have mentioned that I live in the Netherlands. Here it is not common for healthy people to take flu shots. I think it will even be advised against taking a flu shot if you are under 60 and healthy. http://translate.google.nl/translat...//www.rivm.nl/Onderwerpen/G/Griepprik&act=url
I don't get sick too often either. especially not with the flu. Not sure the last time I even had it. But the last three times my mom got her flu shot, she got really sick. So I choose to just stay away from it. fight the good fight
