lol, I just think that the debates would matter more if they thought on their feet. It would reveal a lot more I think. It would lessen the possibility of creating weak arguments that sound good.

 

Authors don't generally deny that they used a ghost writer. It's an accepted practice. And a good one, by the way.

Obama happens to be a great writer, orator, and lawyer. It's really doesn't make him any more or less fit to be president. And McCain's writing skills are equally unimportant. It's not important.

I don't think it's what they are reading.. the issues are Economy, Fuel , The War and some enviromental issues.. bc that is what the ppl are screaming about.. the Both have to address these matters..it isn't about which 'Party' has the most money, It's not about the Party but about We The People.. and just who is pulling the strings and which fiddler are we dancing to.. I'm not against Obama.. I just think ppl are putting way too much on to him..expect way too much from him.. Obama will only do as much as he is allowed to do by the powers that be.. just as Macain will only be allowed to do what the powers that be, dictate.. The powers that be, being The Bloodline, the ones that hold all the money and power within their "Family" It has been that way since the begining of Man.. I don't see Obama as the One to change it.. they are both just attacking eachother and their parties.. I don't see Mcain changing it either.. It will be up to the People to make changes..

 

Well, that's true. But I think a good number of people can see right through that, or at least I hope so. I mostly respect politicians that can free ball their speeches and simply speak from the heart. Not try to really convince people so much as saying what they feel is important and giving reasonable reasons for it. I don't often see this from today's debates except for a rare few. (Kucinich, Gravel, Paul, Nader, McKinney to name a few).

 

The only problem with that is that some folks, regardless of passion or deep conviction, are stage-shocked, and when you're surrounded by biased folks, real and/or perceived, folks get nervous.

I was wondering that too PR .. When he was debating with Mcain.. he never looked up from his crib notes.. like he never saw the words before and had to keep looking at the paper he was obviously reading from.. plus being a lawyer he has learned how to manipulate words to fit the ocation.. not just him.. but they both have been coached.. what to really avoid talking about. every elected official has a "plan" to make changes but non of them have done it.. it's just gotten worse.. and will get a lot worse in the near future..

 

i'm not saying that about any certain person, but more like about ALL of us.

i mean, i don't know about you, but i'd be sort of nervous if i was being interviewed by people that were on record as saying they thought i was full of spit or something ~ you have to be SO careful of every word you say, because words can be turned around and/or used out of context, and if you stumble and make an actual mistake? I think the Canidates should be more in touch with the ppl..instead of arguing who is better, smarter, cooler.. back and forth..they should be asking the ppl what they NEED.. Everyones basic needs are the same.. We all want affordable homes, secure jobs, good food, clean water, good/safe schools, a safe place to raise our childern.. decent healthcare, Cleaner/cheaper fuel, LESS TAXATION.. non-toxic medication.. none of the ppl want to send their sons/daughters to War..we want a government that is working on behalf of the ppl.. all of the ppl of our nation.. and Not send our jobs and resources over seas... We have homeless and starving ppl right here that cannot get aid.. Vertens,Old Folks, Children..whole families... teenagers that can't read, but pass bc of their affiliation with Sports.. which brings in Billions of $$ in revenue every yr for the industry.. With the elderly freezing to death in their beds bc they cannot afford heat.. or eating CAT FOOD bc they can't get foodstamps.. but yet every ILLEGAL gets free health care, gov housing, food stamps and a check every month.. We want to be able to walk down the street and feel safe.. and demand an affordable cost of living standerd........... All the freedy joes and fanny macs can bite the big one..We need a leader who will address all these issues and start focusing on We The People..It's the Ppl that make this country great.. not the government.. The president is a public servant that works For The People, not a wildcatter that works for himself.. we are the ones that pay his/her saleries, taxes and give our blood sweat and tears to keep this nation afloat.. it is on our backs we carry the world.. But that world is crumbling right before our eyes..yet our backs are still breaking... our hearts are still aching.. Who you vote for matters very little.. they are just puppets..

And the essence of political debate should be about what things should be achieved and by what policies they are to be.

For example some argue that such things as you mention are better off being supplied by a free market rather than government so that taxes can be low. Others argue that markets are wasteful and being greed based inherently corrupt, so it is better to have higher taxation and more government involvement.

The thing is a lot of people find debate difficult; they don’t want to listen to hard arguments or read what’s actually been presented or research the differing policies or tax themselves over detail. They would much prefer to make snap decisions and only find out later that those were based on misrepresented or even false information.

Campaign spin doctors know this and that is why they like to keep away from detail and concentrate on making there candidate look Smarter or Cooler etc..

I think he'll be shot at. Whether or not the would-be assassin is succesful is another story, but I'm not going to be so naiive as to think that the Klan or others like them aren't planning something.

 

Actually Obama even said he writes his own speeches at least some of them (the huge race speech for instance). the dude was a college prof. I'm sure he can write his own speeches.
