even before the current U.S. morgage crises I've never judged anyone by economic status. There should be laws imposed against the economic crimes being committed. i.e.-The large print may giveth but the small print taketh away.- anyway it always blows me away how many are petty egotist ,many great poeple who have positively shaped the world have died homeless or in abject poverty.
This reminds me...all over the country, people have put up "tent cities" for people who got foreclosed on...those are probably some of the only homeless people I truly respect (not saying I disrespect every other homeless person) only because they are still working and doing what they can for their families...except they no longer have homes.
I don't think I am better than actual homeless people who have serious problems... but I do sometimes think that I am better than the pseudo-homeless people of Humboldt who choose to feed off of other people and use their children and puppies in order to get more money out of others, even when they are capable of getting a job. Mostly I just think I am better than those who use their children and puppies. But these are really just special cases, in almost all cases I do not feel better than anybody. Go on, hate me if you want.
Exactly...although I can't blame those who have given up like the thousands of Vietnam vets who just couldn't keep their sanity after the war.
I am no better than anyone, but luckily I own free and clear my farm and log cabin after many years of work.... I feel for those who were takin advantage of by the ruthless banker schemes...:-(
i have been homeless for many yrs.what would ne1 like to know about it?it has good & bad parts.actually,in many ways i kinda miss it.it tends to keep one on one`s toes for example as in finding luxuries.like a good tent.& how to hide ur tent during the day.finding decent ppl to camp with.know where the bathrooms are becuz ur gonna get diarreah from food, no matter how hard u try not to.never tell anyone u have money.don`t let anyone see u smoking anything.get A bicycle.have very few friends.if u find a good soup kitchen or food pantry don`t tell anyone else about it, cuz they will screw it up.i know that sounds harsh but there`s alot of wagging tounges on the streets.i`ve many decent eating places swamped by creeps.& has anyone ever noticed that many supposedly poor ppl drive very expensive cars?
a lot of people who have money are total dicks. many people who are making money are making the world worse off through what they do. And if they aren't fucking up the world directly through their work, they're fucking up the world by abusing people, and by committing crimes that they are either crafty enough to get away with, or that they can get away with by paying a lawyer to get them out of it. a lot of folks who are homeless have gone through domestic violence/ abuse, illness, just got overwhelmed by their circumstances. homeless people can be total assholes too, but I think that some manage to be pretty good people under the circumstances that they are dealing with. I think that a lot of people that have the "get a job" attitude would see things differently if they stood in the shoes of a homeless person. I've heard of people called "trustafarians" though, that are kids that have trust funds that pan handle, because they think it's cool, and it helps them stretch out their trust fund. I don't respect that.
I have a few relatives like that who know they’ll never own a home so they compensate by driving a top-of-the-line Lexus, Mercedes, or an Infiniti :2thumbsup: Hotwater
of course. i absolutely guarantee that there is a homeless person who is worse than i am. i'm pretty sure that there is a homeless person who is better than i am too. poor people, particularly ghetto poor people get a bit of money, and they don't know what to do with it so they go out and immediately waste it on something to show off the fact that they had a little bit of money at one point.
yeah this man knocked on my sisters car window once. He was Romanian. and everyone knows that over here, alot of the Romanians beg for money, but are actually very wealthy. ( im not racist against romanians or anything, my cousin is romanian, adopted. and my two other cousins are half romanian).. so we tell him we dont have any money. we were parked up, looking out at the road. there were traffic lights there, and whenever the lights were red he would knock on everyones windows begging for money........... 10 minutes later.... a Mercedes pulls up and collects him.
some of the most interesting people ive ever talked to were homeless. most people i've known would sooner sneer and walk off than stand on level ground, look a homeless person in the eye, and have a conversation though
I heard this somewhere and it's an interesting perspective: The majority of homeless people have no money. But the man with a McMansion, Mercedes, and college-debts, tuition, etc., has negative money. This makes you according to dollar amount, poorer than the homeless man. It obviously isn't a perfect analogy, but gives an interesting perspective.
It depends on the homeless person's character, whether or not I would consider myself better than them.
I've lived rough (by choice) a time or two in my life. Circumstances and luck can change. Nobody is better than anybody else in any way that really matters.
It is definitely an interesting perspective. Unfortunately, many people end up on the streets because of debt in some form or another. Debt is a quick downward spiral once the McMansion has been foreclosed on and the Mercedes has been repossessed. I'd say those people in the McMansions are just as likely to end up homeless as anybody else - all it takes is a bout of mental illness or a medical emergency in the family, or even a sweet sweet taste of that Charlie Sheen.
