^ I wanted to add to my previous reply, that I understand the point you were making and I couldn't agree more about how the hardships/circumstances people have doesn't make them a better or worse person than anyone else......... However, it just doesn't make sense how it's supposed to relate to what I wrote. I agree, people's skills and income levels are as diverse as they are.
i`ve never panhandled, tho have been given money.& panhandling isn`t really so bad if it`s for a good cause.i`ve been in many arguments over that.i`m against panhandlers who use the money just to party without startin or contributin to a kitchen.that`s wot i don`t like.especially when many of us out here contribute alot to kitchens.the party comes later, if @ all.& i`m not against partyin either have been accused of that.just do ur fair share no matter where or how u live.
Does anybody else find begging to be incredibly shameful? If you have a child to feed, maybe it is ok. If you are willing to trade your dignity for a couple of beers, that is fucking terrible self-evaluation of your own human value.
The way I look at it, it's all about survival skills and intelligence. There are both rich, and poor people, that display both traits. I have been in dire straits financially. I have also been pretty comfortable (unfortunately, not as often). It doesn't make me a different person at the core.
No, I don't think I am better than anybody else. I just think I am lucky that I have a mother in law that has always been there to help me and my old lady, if it wasn't for her we would be homeless.
found a good one..."a place where you don't feel alone" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezAP_Y8PW8s"]YouTube - Cinematic Orchestra To Build A Home
Sometimes living on the streets will do that to your sense of self value. Same with being spat upon, kicked out of businesses, insulted, pitied, getting caught dumpster diving, being handcuffed and hauled to jail, etc. Unfortunately, I feel that the majority see the homeless as people who have fucked up, have nothing, don't want to fix their lives, and don't deserve respect. If people treated me as if nothing about me was respectable, I'd probably stop respecting myself too. Call me weak but I wouldn't be able to handle it for long.
I would only say I'm better than a homeless person because I have a home. The fact that they don't have internet and the ability to know you jerks makes him equel if not better than me. Unless they take that 2$ I gave them and go to a starbucks and comes directly here. In that case I'm better.
no homeless people are free. everyone else is a slave to the pointless society which we call our daily lives
Uh, I don't know what homeless people you know... but the ones I have talked to wouldn't describe themselves as living some utopian 'free' life.
That idea probably comes from the popular perception of beach bums and sidewalk musicians. Looks like fun and games until you get sick and can't afford treatment, or winter comes and makes your life a frigid hell.
I did see some seemingly happy and free homeless people when I was in Hawaii... but it is a pretty fabulous climate and there is food literally growing everywhere for the picking. But yeah, when someone is trying to keep warm and keep alive in the snow and rain... different story.
actually in some cases cold weather can be good.that is if u know wot ur doin.for in stance clothes are easier to wear than carry.i actually respect those who carry alot of stuff around w/ them more than those who don`t.becuz, w/ stuff u don`t hafta depend on others as much.of course there are exceptions.& stuff can be bartered.& some of that stuff may be stolen.& too, cold weather keeps food from spoiling a s quick. not as many bugs, snakes, etc..not as many ppl out too.
actually in some cases cold weather can be good.that is if u know wot ur doin. copied from above. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- if u don`t things happen.always have paper bags for your feet.don`t wear tight socks to bed.loosen your belt. it can keep blood from flowin to ur legs. alcohol does not keep u warm.keep ur feet dry wiggle ur toes.rub them.
No. Beautiful minds come from all walks of life. The way I see it, no one in this life has it any better or worse than anyone else. We just have different experiences. Then again, those experiences can accumulate, but all in all, shit happens. Shit happens a LOT.
No, I'm not better. I've been homeless and I met lots of very good people when I was on the streets. Sure, there are some shitty homeless people, but there are some shitty rich people too. Lots of good people just get down on their luck sometimes, and it can be very difficult to climb back up.
I don't think I am. We are both people going through different things in our lives and on different journeys. regardless of what one has or doesn't have, they are there at that point in their life because of some situation or another. No one person is better than another for being at a different situation than another person. We are all on different journey's and cannot judge one persons against anothers because they are not and cannot be the same. One of my friends is, technically by his own choice, but it was various situations that made him reach that point in his life. It's interesting if you can think about it that way.
