I tipped both times...the first time it was 100 and the guy was up in the front talking to his boss and the boss basically said he was gonna get 300 for the day and I had seen him work on 2 full back pieces earlier that day and knew he was booked all day too and knew one of them was 200...I felt bad so I gave him and extra 30 the second time I tipped 40 cause it was big and he kept havng to take breaks because of the angles i was at
my rule for tipping i tip anyone who tends to you think about it this way you tip waitresses and cab drivers and people that not only have a service, but make it somewhat personnal like the waitress comes to your table greets makes you comfy and keeps you from bitching the cashier is just selling you something there is no real tending there the tattoo and peircing artist actually tends to you it is a personnal service and you are buying their art and their time that is my rule you only see the pizza dude for maybe a minute if he doesnt want to chill, but you tip him for dealing with retards... (pizza delivery drivers would understand and agree) LOL
I always do, how much should depend on the tat, the work involved and the quality of the work. 15% to 20% is good.
