It's not like that here, the doctors are (unless in private practise) employed by the NHS (National Health Service) and they do that job because they genuinly want to help people. Some doctors are not very good at all, don't read your notes properlyor are rude, that kind of thing but I've only met one or two that are like that. You don't have to pay for medical care directly here unless you want to go private.
i trust doctors when it comes to major things like surgery. when i broke my leg i had a 18 pins and 3 plates put in. i would trust that guy to cut me open more then i would trust by friends to. on the other hand if i get a cold id rather talk to one of my friends and get a home cure then go to the doctor.
i really cant stand being touched by male doctors... i dont know why...i dont normally have a problem with men...so dont write me off as some raging man-hater. lol. but for some reason i cant trust them.....
I don't like most doctors...but I have one that I really do trust, or actually two. I hate to say it, but my mental health has gotten so bad before that I just decided to accept prescription medications to help. But the doctor who prescribes them talks to me for like an hour each time I go there about my life, relating to how I feel. He talks to me about the problems and helps me try and work it out without meds. And we discuss the different treatment options, so he doesn't just give me a prescription, he makes sure I know exactly what it is and makes sure I know everything about what I'm getting into. If it's my mental health, then it's the only right way to do it. I've gotten pretty close to being suicidal and I've been quite psychotic before, and I know I really do need the "evil" kind of meds to help me. So yes, I trust doctors, but only the ones I really have a close relationship with who I visit regularly.
i do not trust doctors or the pills they give out they do nothing they are placebos (sp?) they were the ones who gave people amphetamines in the 40's and 50's for hiccups for christ's sake! they gave herion to get people off morphine do you really trust people who can legally give you deadly addictive drugs? fuck corporate america!
Yeah, so they all have to be bad and evil. I have much respect for doctors and the whole job they do. I wouldn't like to have the responsibility for other humans life day in day out. Oh right, I forgot, they don't care about their patients at all right! Some of you people are really paranoid. And by the way, placebo's can really help. Sometimes something's really just in the head. That all said, they're all different persons and of course some will make mistakes or be indifferent about their patient sometimes.
i'm not sure what its like in other parts of the world. in my experience there is always going to be that percentage of doctors who are complete idiots, but that goes with any profession, and i have only come across one or two. i have dealt with many doctors, in one of the best hospital in the country, and there were probably 3 standouts who were absolutely sensational. Same goes for the nurses and paramedics. These people were intelligent, understanding and helpful when i needed it most and i cannot sing their praises highly enough. I also have the utmost respect for my GP, who i trust wholeheartedly (but i have been going to him for over 20 years).
Fuck doctors! They couldnt figure out that my grandpa was dying of cancer until it was to late. And they killed my friends grandpa, I just don't trust them.
People are not perfect and they don't know everything. See how heavy it can be if everyone blames you for failing to save their family members? If they weren't working on finding cures for cancer there weren't any people saved from it at all.
well i don't dislike their proffession, nor any of them individually personally that i've met and delt with, but i do think the a.m.a.'s stance in supporting laws that prevent people from being their own doctors and self medication is a bit backward headed. i really think they ought to be supporting the legalization of medical herbs, among other things. i mean there's a few of them who do as individuals though, and naturaly the feds are up to scapegoating them because of it any way they can. i'm not opposed to their oppostion to quackery posing as real medicine, but not everything outside of their pervue is entirely quackery either, as is supposedly well known, or i would at least expect it to be here, of all places. =^^= .../\...
I think the medical industry in general is pretty fucked, that is why it has been necessary for doctors to form associations for reform in the industry, why doctors are leaving the standard medical industry to work with other natural health practitioners and speaking out against the industry. It is just too saturated with trauma. People have lost contact with how to take care of themselves, there is too much for the doctors to do, they don't have time to keep up with what's going on, it takes an average of 40 years for the whole industry to catch up with any new technologies, facts and medical information. And it's a very stressful job, they work too much, and the pharmaceutical companies are peddling drugs to doctors because it is an easy way for them to treat someone, get on with their lives and not have stress over one person's problems that they don't really know how to or have time to solve. So yes, I think there are some awesome doctors out there, I think there are some that could be and want to be good, but are lost in the system... and I think there are some that are highly ignorant, arrogant and dangerous. The third leading cause of death in the United States is medical mishaps. So it's not that I don't trust doctors in general, I don't trust the modern medical industry, it has been too refined and too categorized for genuine, individualized healing to occur as it should. So I agree with the others who say it has it's purpose, but every disease and health issue is caused by lifestyle and can be cured if we all possessed the knowledge that is our birthright, but it has been largely lost to us as a society and we need to search for the truth of how to maintain our own personal health everyday, and let the doctors take care of accidents. My opinion.
I'm fine with doctors :S Not sure what everyone else is worried about. I'm thinking of becoming one myself actually...
Actually I'm starting to hate doctors more and more ( in opposite of what I first stated in this thread....months ago ) A lot of them act so high and mighty just because they're held responsible for peoples lives, and I mean they screw up a lot these days don't they?
My mom is a doctor, but I know that not all doctors are trustworthy. She once told me that a surgeon convinced a woman to get a c-section several weeks too early... because he'd be on vacation by the time she was due and he wouldn't get paid for the operation. My mom went right up to the woman and told her to leave, quickly.
