Does putting hairs on top of the bowl even help?

Wasn't directing anything I said at you, just passing along some info and agreeing with the bits at the bottom of the bowl you mentioned. It is possible to light a bowl with a lighter or match and not touch flame to weed.

 

red hot = well over the boiling point temp of thc and most of the other psychoactives in marijuana.. glow rods are only used to keep a cleaner.. non-butane/non-beeswax tasting smoke... it's still gonna toast up your weed..

also those rods can explode on you.. not like in the fact that it'll bring down the house.. but i wouldn't want glass of any size flying through the air

 

How the fuck is this whining? I just wanted to prove to my sister she is wasting her time. And I do get my own weed, we smoke our weed together so when one of us can't buy weed, the other has some. Not only is it pointless to remove the hairs only to top off the bowl, but it's counterproductive. Every time the herb is handled your are losing trichomes. Buy her a grinder with a kif collector and be done with it.

The only time I've waited an hour for prep time i was on acid and it took me that long to figure out how to put weed into the bowl.

lol no I don't let her, though sometimes if only I have bud and shes having a bad day I will let her pick a few out to make her happy, drives me fucking crazy after having shown her what they are she STILL does it, in fact she is doing it as we speak with her bud and has been for around 20+ minutes.

The hairs, or pistils, purpose is to trap pollen, they have no trichomes on them.

Tell her to gather only the hairs and smoke just a pile of them and see if she gets as high. Guarantee she wont.

So her practice of doing this not only is pointless, it is based on a lack of knowledge about cannabis.

The only place in/on the plant that contains cannabinoids are the trichomes. Trichomes are present on just about all external parts of the plant, with the highest concentration on the flowers.

Funny thing is, the only external part that has almost no trichs are the pistils or "hairs".
The stems have more trichs on their surface than the hairs do.

This is very easy to verify with a magnifying lens or a picture search online.

I have also collected the hairs before to check them out, but it is pointless beyond curiosity.
as a side note, a bowl of mostly red hairs tends to have a more "spicey" taste.

 

I have tried telling her all of that, but she still insists that there are at least crystals coating the hairs, even though its the weed that's sticky and covered in crystals until she shakes them off. She doesn't take out ALL of the hairs but all we can get is good shit so she takes out a whole lot. Nothing can be done about it.
