Does the existence of a creator imply the existence of an afterlife?

jesus is a philosopher and like all philosophers he was persecuted for thinking differently. his wisdom is taken out of context by his followers thus giving us the new testament. god. fake.

I don't know whether or not there are still religions that believe in a creator God, but not an afterlife. But there used to be one: early Judaism. Throughout most of its history, Judaism had no concept of an afterlife. They believed Yahweh would reward or punish them for being good or bad, but in this life, not an afterlife. This is rather remarkable, because other civilizations around them, notably the Egyptians, did believe in an afterlife with rewards and punishments. The Jews held out until the Babylonian captivity era, when they were exposed to Chaldean and later Persian traditions. And after the Syrian king Antiochus III persecuted the Jews for their religion, the idea of resurrection of the body took hold, because people didn't think it possible that their brave dead martyrs would never be rewarded. But even in the time of Jesus, a major sect, the Sadduccees, still adhered to the old belief that there was no afterlife. The Pharisees believed in an afterlife, and apparently Jesus did, too. By the way, I consider myself a Christian but have no faith in an afterlife. If there is one, as Jesus seemed to think, I may be in trouble.

If immortality in one's own dream (which seems to be what you're implying) is appealing, we must have very different dreams. Personally I'm glad of a little oblivion now and then!

I'm not sure, but I think the "Aboriginal" dreamtime myths don't require an afterlife. I might be wrong about that.

I would have thought that it wouldn't be important; that if you live a good life, without worrying at all about how you will be judged in the next world, you'll do fine whether there's a Heaven or not.

Personally, if I believed in an afterlife at all, it would be one size fits all. I can believe that souls pass to another state of existence after corporeal death. But I can't believe that anything we do in this life decides which afterlife we go to. It makes about as much sense as the whole parallel universe thing - too anthropocentric to be true.
