mri shows some inflammation in his ventricles. so we are taking head measurements and watching out for signs of hydrocephalus. he will need another spinaltap this week, his spinal fluid white blood cell count was described to me as "nearly pus" so they have to make sure the antibiotics are working and that his brain is cycling his spinal fluid properly.

I got a call from the "IRS" claiming they are going to sue me and arrest me for back taxes. It was clearly a scammer from India. He said his name was Mike Smith but his accent is way too thick for that. I also know that the IRS will not contact you like this. He is paying long distance for the call for so the longer I keep him on the phone the more I cost him. I think I got up to abut 20 min acting like I was worried yet very stupid. He wanted me to buy green dot cards and send them to him. Does this really work?

He eventually said "fuck your mother you mother fucker" and hung up after I stared laughing and said how does it feel being a thief.

We got facebook notices from our county police about that very call and passed them along to our various Neighborhood Watch groups and friends.

I guess the only people not in that chain of notifications are the scammers. I can't believe they are still making the same calls.

i went and got PNP transistors today, PN2907 transistors to control the chip select lines for the 7-segment display I'm building. I added another shift register to sink the current from the transistor bases, but when I tried doing that I got some kind of garbage, where as one shift register worked perfectly (but with no chip select). checked the code and could find nothing wrong, it must be the wiring.

I ended up taking the second shift register out, and am going to try just using GPIO pins for the chip select, so 7 I/O lines total. I thought it would be nice to be able to send all communication to the display over serial (and only 3 lines) but this is supposed to be a software project anyway.
