I used to not touch food if it was even within a few days BEFORE expiring. Now I eat it as long as its edible. Sometimes well beyond the date.

 

Argggh just got wrecked in my league race sitting in top 5, wreck on restart took me out then trying to get into pit lane to serve a penalty for passing before the line, cause car errywhere, got run up the back off slowing down and then, the other admin cleared blacks because unfair, i shoulda just fucken stayed out grr. Ah well, 9th still.

 

This is similar to some of the techniques used in Raj Yoga, the highest form of yoga, which I've gone on about here somewhere. You can get very deep into it and if you develop it can be pretty mind-blowing. If you do it gently it shouldn't be harmful.
