Second, most guys aren't focused on being attracted to their penis while masturbating. They aren't thinking wow so thick and hard. They probably aren't even mostly looking at their dick. Their just wanting to get off and mentally enjoying the pleasure from masturbating just as you would from a mouth or vagina. It's just sensory feedback that makes you instinctually want more. Same as humping a mattress, etc.

Across the majority of cultures masturbation has been frowned upon. The chinese were against it, indians were against it, aztecs were against it etc.
