I like dreads. Not only do they look really cool, but it's more about a person's attitude about life. The people I've known with dreads tend to be more open minded and accepting of others than folks without dreads. They also (for the most part) are into making the planet a better place for all. Sort of like what the first hippies were doing when they had long hair in the sixties. Dreads are cool. I think it's a stereotype to equate dreads with dirty hair. It just ain't so. :)

You do realize what they state about those who make assumptions, correct?

When someone comes into the dreadlocks forum and insults dreadlocks unnecessarily and incorrectly, it doesn't particularly go down well.

Touche, though a corrected assumption thanks to a kind poster.

For someone to assume, after it has been explained to me and I understand, that I came here for a particular purpose of merely making a derogatory statement about dreadlocks is something that does make an ass of that individual.

I dont think he insulted anyone, he was just misinformed, and stating his opinion.

people are misinformed all the time on this site, wether it be about acid, weed, dreadlocks etc...

in other forums people will usually just tell the person they are wrong and explain to them why, in a rather formal matter.

But for some reason when it happens in the dreadlocks forum, these people take it really personally for some reason and get super defensive.

its probably because we have to explain this and answer these questions a lot, on a daily basis almost. Its irritating.

Well misunderstandings in themselves aren't always offensive, but if someone came to the LSD board or the Stoners Lounge and asked why we do acid or smoke weed even though it makes us stupid and turns our brains to mush, I think people might be upset.

Not to say that I'm offended, but the original statement by itself sounds quite derogatory.

I'd rather inform people than let them continue on in their misinformation.

I get people stopping me in the streets saying crap. I laugh it off but it also becomes annoying, a lot of the time rude and sometimes just damn stupid. Especially when it is something that a simple question or a simple google search could easily sum up. Weed is a controversial subject, something that can be debated because of personal experiences etc, dreadlocks are hair, there is nothing to be discussed or debated, it is clean hair just like every other hair, except it also has added extra awesomeness ;)

Hair can be debated. Just because you dont think it can doesnt mean it cant.

I dont have a problem with dreads though, just dont see the reason to get so easily offended. And im not the only one to notice it either ;)

Do people with dreadlocks have a harder time of finding employment? I think I remember seeing a thread where someone with dreads had to cut off his hair in order to get hired.

Depends on the job and/or the employer, some jobs do not like them because they might not look as professional. Some jobs do not mind, some will make you keep your hair tied back.

I Only Just Came Home From Town To Read This Crap...[IMG].

Sunshine Please Allow Me To Enlighten Thou.

To Get Good Dreads They Have To Be Kept Ultra Clean.

You See, Dreads Are Formed By Friction Between The Hairs Until They Finally

Lock Up, And You Don't Get Friction When Something Is Oily And Dirty.

To Get Truly Ultra Clean Hair You Cant Even Use Shampoos Because

They Leave A Residue That Makes Hair Smell Nice.

What I Have Done For 3 1/2 Years Is Wash My Hair With Baking Soda,

It Leaves My Hair Residue Free, And I Dry It With A Special "Lint Free"

Towel,And I Wash It EVERY DAY, I Doubt Anybody Else In Town

    Goes To These Lengths.

To Sumerise, My Hair Is The Cleanest Out Of 40.000 People...:2thumbsup:.

When I First Read Your Thread I Thought You Were Trolling......

    .....Are You...[IMG].???
