Sex is only a superficial pleasure if you make it one. You could just be holding yourself from something fundamentally amazing if you talk to someone who practices any tantric kind of stuff. Dreads are cool, but only certain people, guys and gals, can pull them off.
The only thing me and gren agree on! lol I don't see the point in dreads, don't really like them. They kind of look like clumps of crap on your head...but that's jsut what I think lol Girls with dreads are only hot if the girl is hot. Dreads definetly don't make an ugly girl look hot, but I understand the earthly attraction to a girl with dreads. There are 2 girls at my school that are hot and have dreads, the dreads add a little something too their hotness though.
Dreads used to be associated with rastafarianism and even before they all kings of old-world rulers had them(think bible days). Now since all the neo-hippies are copying others and trying to rebel its not anything. Just another hairstyle. I've seen more people try to convince me they were "unique" by have a hairstyle that's as old as history and rebelling when they're just imitating rasta's. Not to hate on anyone that likes them, cuz I like them. I wouldn't get them though and anyone who gets them because "its original" is widely misinformed.
to the OP, there's nothing special about dreads except to the person that grows them. Some people 'get them' as a hairstyle, and others grow them for whatever reason they may have. when my hair gets long enough i'm going to let the wind tangle my hair. It's an outward symbol of my rejection of society's standards. i love the way people point and stare in disgust or disbelief (and trust me, it happens a lot). It's also a way of accepting myself for who i am and not compromising my beliefs and ideals to anybody else's ideas of what's acceptable. dreads make life a lot harder if you're in certain areas (like hillbilly towns where i'm at), but to me it's worth the struggle. in fact, the struggle is the journey.
to quote Marley: 'You think about to be a Nazarite- he was making locks-let your hair grow- now we dreadlocks..we... dreadlocks keep you to yourself... in other sense, if you was a trim and shave, maybe like up in a nightclub or at night time, you kind of accept it most... the wicked. So when you're dread now, you kind of have a confidence to stay and don't get corrupt. because it's not everywhere you go, people going to like you. So you're conscious of that so you stay within yourself.' -Bob Marley
dreadlocks are just a personal statement.. just like a mohawk or a chelsea... it screams individualism.. yea yea.. there are people who get them because they think they're "cool".. but what in this world today doesnt somebody do because they think its cool.. tit for tat
The possibilities! Crimp it, curl it, wave it, spiral it, braid it (little braids, medium braids, fat braids), part it in all different ways, fluff or defluff it to various levels, etc. etc. I don't know. I like being able to play with my hair and have tons of options of different styles. I love dreads too. There's something so beautiful and animalistic about them. mmm...dready men...
i'm getting dreads this summer, hopefully. mainly because i hate dealing with my hair every morning, trying to make it look nice. i think they are beautiful, on both guys, and chicks. and washing your hair everyday is unhealthy for it (still shower though) but too much shampoo and conditioner in it just puts too much chemicals and shit in your hair. A friend of mine who is a hairdresser only washes her hair maybe twice a week.
ya, imo dreads look good on black men. no one else. straight hair is neat. also alot of the times really sexy if it suits the person. unlike having ropes hanging down from ur head lol
My hair gets so nasty if it's not washed on a daily basis. I try to wash it with baby shampoo a couple of times a week as to not be harsh on it everyday though.
im cursed with hair that gets really greasy after three days of no washing, and on the flip side i also get dandruff if i dont wash every two days, so i wash twice a day to be safe and plus i love being clean,i guess im a mild germaphobe
I used to have them quite long but they got really annoying after a while. I don't really understand people getting dreads styled or whatever that's just fashion innit. If you're going to have them at least let them form naturally. Besides, they look nicer when there's irregularities in them and they're not all uniform and stuff. I cut mine all off apart from 4 at the back which I trimmed down to a shorter length (I couldn't face having no hair at all) and I've got a bit of a mohawk going on at the front now. This is me the day I cut my hair off (yes, my scalp is covered in cuts because I attempted to do it alone but my mate helped in the end) http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/9126/raaaa017xu3.jpg Sometimes I want them back but I don't have many regrets about getting rid of them really, when I go to bed now its not like resting my head on a coil of old rope
I have dreadlocks, I'm not trying to make a statement, be cool, or any of the other myriad of bullshit assumptions i've seen in this thread, in fact on the seldom occasions I do go out into "normal" society, I tend to cover them up the best I can to avoid drawing attention to myself. I have completely natural locks for personal spiritual reasons, I do not subscribe to the puritanical ideologues of vanity, I prefer to be completely in touch with my natural/primal side, I spend alot of time in nature........dreadlocks are the natural state of your hair, they form when you stop torturing it with chemicals and combs, that's it. I have been physically forced to cut them once before and it was a devastating loss to me, like losing an appendage almost. I have no plans to ever cut them again.....and I know quite a few other people with locks who share a similar mindset.
it all depends on the person really, but hair had natural oils that clean it, and shampooing alot adds even more oils to your hair. but like i said, it depends on the type of hair you have
