Sweden does seem to be very strict with its laws. I had a friend whose class took a trip there when they were all about 17-18. They wanted booze but no one looked old enough and everyone gets carded so they asked a regular-looking guy at the shop if he'd buy some for them. He said "Sure, wait here." and went to the security guard so they had to make a run for it.
In high school there were always gas stations that would sell to me, and after that I got a fake ID, so I've managed. But bouncers can be hardcore about fakes. It's humiliating to get it taken up
I have no friends in this fucking two-faced town and my age is too little for people to watch me drink outside of the shadows. God daym what a joke
I don't know about renting a car, but almost anyone will sell you alcohol if you are in the military and still under 21.
Well, from what I've seen, cops don't give a shit either if they catch you. Just a pat on the back and a "don't do anything to make me have to come back by here"
my daughter is 18 and i prefer it if she drinks at home not driving to a social function--she digs her little bit of tequila----safty first and tat means at home or stey where she is ior have ne pick her uo---too many kids die drinking and drivind--she just got from europe and the drinking age there is 16 or 18 depending on the country--not to mention amsterdan where u can smoke the herb at 18--much more civilized there i believe
well then it still seems stupid to me. being too stupid to get a decent job doesn't strike me as a good reason to be allowed to drink 3 years earlier than everyone else. i know not everybody joins the military because they are too stupid to get a decent job, but a hell of a lot do.
Well, without needlessly generalizing an entire group of people, the reason they don't arrest them isn't because they are "too stupid" it's because they have respect for what they do and don't agree with a ridiculous law.
so they have no respect for what anyone else does and do agree with the ridiculous law when dealing with people that aren't in the military?
How should I know? All I'm telling you is that they respect people in the military enough to not bust them when they find them drinking. I'm sure there are plenty of cops that wouldn't bust you if you told them you work at walmart or some shit.
i don't know. i was just shocked to hear that military people are considered responsible enough to get drunk 3 years before everyone else, when almost every military person i've ever met is much less responsible than the average person. sure, they have a hard job. they chose that, usually because they got crappy grades in school and had legal trouble that made it hard to get a better job. and i'm really not trying to generalize an entire group of people here, like the police apparently did... just saying what i've witnessed in my own experience.
I'm kind of shocked that you are shocked. What you just applied to military personnel is also probably true for a lot of cops, so maybe it's just a two-of-a-kind thing.
