the whole notion of enlightenment is complete bullshit - its one of those trendy terms used to hide insecurity. imho. in fact, it is kind of the anathema of happiness, because it erases an older set of more tangible goals that do bring happiness.
The concept of Enlightenment is older than Christianity. While you sometimes come across the wishy-washy people who are into it for three seconds, there are others who are serious about it. If religion and philosophy equals insecurity, I guess I need a shrink.
Words are for communication. A self created word should be accompanied by its definition if it is to be understood. In which case, the neologism is superfluous. Wanting things (broad definition, including world peace, enlightenment and other abstractions) gives us things to strive for. This striving is what we use to fill our days. However, desire must be kept in balance with other considerations, like kindness and fairness.
I was thinking more along the lines of a new-ish compound word, or using already known prefixes or suffixes on words that already exist.
Differences in philosophies make for good dialogue. I understand your point. Are you atheist? (Don't worry, I am not gonna try and convert you to anything, just curious)
if you had to classify it, it'd be somewhere around mild existentialism. so pick a couple traits you find are important, and show that in your actions. i dig the old combinations. work hard, play hard, callous exterior, heart of gold. or something like that. you can pretty much sum it as putting out for life.
