Trading food stamps to get money for your kid's shoes, I can understand; but, you've got to admit that trading for weed is giving the finger to the system that provides food for so many people in real need. I have to agree with PB on this one. .
I don't want to beat everybody on the internets. :smilielol5: Honestly Vig, how do you reconcile your anger about the proposed testing of welfare/food stamp recipients with your activity of selling food stamps to get money for drugs or straight trading them for drugs? You do understand that is the very thing that they assume is going on and why they want to test people don't you? I'm not hurling insults, you're righteous indignation about what they are proposing doesn't jive with your flippant attitude regarding your own behavior regarding the very same issue. Your words don't coincide with your actions. Your just angry because I have the insight to see it and call attention to it. So, how do you reconcile the glaring disparity between your words and actions??? Honestly, when I read you "lmao" about getting weed money by selling food stamps, my respect for anything you say concerning political issues took a big hit. You are a hypocrite, and apparently don't even comprehend why.
and when did i state my opinion about the actual topic? i could care less if you have respect for any of my opinions.
damn pbsmith your weiner must be tiny. you get way too excited about stuff. go do some drugs bro. get back wit me
Wondered when you were going to chime in. Gee, you and Vig have responded with such intelligent and well worded explanations and justifications for why trading food stamps for drugs is perfectly OK. I really am impressed with your reasoning why it doesn't have anything whatsoever to do with these proposed laws about drug screening people receiving them. I just have no response that could possibly compare to the well thought out and insightful rebuttal you have both provided.
I'm sorry man -- But PB is right on. People playing the system don't need to be the ones criticizing the ass holes who want to eliminate it - or at least make people who need it feel sub-human. Sorry, some of us do take this kind of shit seriously.
PB Not by me you wouldn’t, I agree with you and Jack. Comments and actions like these (trading stamps for weed) are picked up by those on the right to justify taking away benefits from those that need them.
Hey, I disagree with your OP nearly completely, but way to stand up for your convictions. And let me just say humbly: fuck all you trashy hypocrites; hope you buy some bad drugs with your stolen tax money Just as bad as the most corrupt politician.
first of all the two of us that did mention selling food stamps never asserted our positions on the original subject. so, kindly fuck off!
I still mean everything I said about trash, bad drugs, and being as bad as the corrupt politicians - but I do take back the hypocrite
Actually you have. This question in response to Duck's original post in which he said he saw no problem with it, reveals that you feel the system is in need of change; That remark implies that you are in agreement with my statement; Which you then said you wish you could rep me for it, most likely positive rep, considering your above remark. I also am taking into consideration your overall political views as expressed by you throughout the forums. You are anti-political system, anti-American big business, anti-military, etc. These are all sentiments you have expressed in various ways in various threads. Given that, it is a safe and valid assumption that you would also be opposed to the screening of welfare/food stamp recipients by any governmental agency. That is fine, you are free to have your convictions regarding politics. It is the disparity between your stated convictions and your stated actions I am drawing attention to. I am questioning the validity of your convictions, or if you are just another person who wants to bitch about "The Man" and place blame on American government for all the troubles in this nation and world, yet fail to recognize your own part in all of it. Sorry if the spotlight makes you uncomfortable.
As for playing the system, the financial crisis happened because it was legal. Tax attorneys are in high demand. A good days shopping is to pay little and get alot in return.
the funny thing is, that i was kidding too. though i will admit i do know that they go for 50 cents on the dollar b/c i know people that do this.
yeah i was under the impression you guys were kidding...anyways. that was a semi-entertaining 5 minutes worth of reading. I think suggesting drug testing is ridiculous just because that will cost taxpapyers that much more. Weeding out the few welfare recipients that are using their food stamps to buy drugs doesn't really justify the cost of drug testing. I think our entire welfare system needs to be completely revamped though, so this is really a nonissue to me. If drug tests were instated it would just be another misguided practice in an already flawed welfare system.
one thing i'd also like to mention is that the people i know who buy/sell food stamps do it because they are given too much, or they don't get enough, or any at all. so, the criteria that social services to decide the amount of stamps given to household may need a revamp as well.
Florida Democrat candidate Alex Sink wants the testing too, Not all of the food stamps/debit cards that are sold on the black market "for pennies on the dollar" end up as someone's drug money. As everyone knows food stamps /debit cards can be bought $0.20-$0.50 on the dollar, the government should just offer $0.55 and save itself $0.45.
