This type of personal attack is unacceptable and I have asked site management to bar you from Hip Forums

I definitely write better music after smoking a few bowls or a blunt or something.

A few buddies that I'm working on starting a psychedelic/acid rock, jam band together and writing material are planning on doing shrooms or maybe some acid, placing a reel to reel recorder in the middle of the room and just jamming for inspiration.

I don't know. I'm pretty confident with these people I'm working with (for once). We were jamming today and we definitely had a Grateful Dead style jam/groove going on for about 20 minutes.

the true beauty of drug inspired writing usually isn't taking the writing/song playing in it's raw form, but refining it into something legible and worth reading/listening to.

Greg, I agree with you that dirtdog or whatever his name is was an ass for saying what he said, however, tatling on him is NEVER the answer. Seriously, are we crying over what people say to us in a FREE SPEECH forum. Did the moderator seriously get involved to point out that that guys one statement was what caused some sort of online argument. Is that not what this site is for? I seem to be confused, what happened to the hipforums I know and love?

I got involved because Dirtdog sent me several messages complaining about the other guy. I simply pointed out that he was the one that started the "drama" here. The entire time I have been a moderator I have never had this much issue in the Writer's Forum! Haha! You writer's are all pretty mellow and easy going...

You could try for a nice alcohol/pentobarbital hit. It might make for a VERY short story.
Pentobarbital (nembutal) is what vets use to euthanize animals.

Coffee... without caffine I'm not sure I could even devote the time to be a good writer. And alcohol and nicotine... a little less often. Still a lot though. I drink a lot more when I'm writing, and I don't even smoke when I'm not writing.

I would kiss a horse for some adderall right now, I'm knee deep in a script. There is a trade off though. While I can write for many hours on rx speed without respite, I do find it can hamper creativity. Something about the complete focus makes my writing lose a little magic I think.

    It can be worked around.

Hunter Thompson liked psychedelics. Norman Mailer liked booze. Edgar Poe was apparently a boozer but not a doper. Richard Brautigan was an alcoholic (according to Wikipedia), and given the content of his work and his sixties lifestyle, probably a doper. He eventually blew his brains out, as did Thompson.

That's not particularly compeling. There are plenty of people who can drink and smoke pot in moderation.

If you chose not to alter your conciousness while writing, kudos. We'll pin an award on you. But unless your writing consists of scripting DARE commercials, than these homilies don't add a lot to the conversation.

I apologize for not adding a lot to the conversation. Now tell me about your contributions here. The Thorazine Dreams piece (the only one by you on Writers Forum), perhaps?

Note: To find all 'new thread' contributions to Writers Forum by a user, go to the Display Options dialog box at the bottom of the forum contents page, and sort by thread starter, ascending, from beginning. Then page through the returned list until you find that user.

    Some people write sober.
    Others don't.
    Seems simple enough.

This thread is just turning into a bunch of snide remarks that aren't contributing to anything. Unnecessary.

    Peace,
