We do have completely different types of hair. But a dreadlock is a dreadlock is a dreadlock. Did you have locs overnight? No. Do I have locs overnight? No. Small knots....bigger knots...so on and so forth. The hair still has to wrap around itself and form those knots. Straight hair, curly hair.....it's all matted/knotted ropes of hair at the end and it all gets there the same way...small knots and tangles and then bigger and so on and so forth. And as they get older they get heavy and then can get thin and break off. Her saying that was NOT true, when visual proof posted by the members would tell you otherwise, is what started this whole thing.
But isn't the way they're made into rope the same? (assuming you're talking about braided rope or twisted rope) I'm not saying that our hair isn't different. What I am saying is that dreadlocks form by hair making knots and those knots being left in. To act like black hair and white hair don't make knots and then make more knots and end up as dreads is ridiculous.
Lovie, you can't come here throwing around the "she's racist" card when you yourself resort to racism. Pot, Kettle... I can't say the rest for fear I'll get called out as a racist white bitch.
There's a difference between racism and descriptive (although it is derogatory) language. I don't think all white females are bitches or racist. Just her sorry tail. Stand by your friend if yall want to. That's what people should do. BUT she called me a **** for absolutely no good reason. Remember that when you're defending her.
It's the constant insistence that black and whites can't possibly have something in common. Root flipping and interlocking? Same thing different name. ESPECIALLY based on pictures SHE drew in a previous thread. Hair having to get curly, then make small knots and form bigger ones until it's a dreadlock? The same thing. Being white doesn't make her special no matter how much she wishes it did. And her whole attitude that she has to save the poor white people from evil black people's hair care methods is SO incredibly offensive. I get that (according to Lux) she's used to being the authority on black hair (that's SO hilarious btw) but if she's honestly threatened enough by someone WITH black hair depositing knowledge on the hair type in question to lash out and call someone names when they haven't talked to them in several days then she's not just racist she's an idiot.
I Have Stainless Steel Pots, A White Kettle, A Black Fridge, And A Chocolate Brown Gas Stove, Does That Mean I Have A Racist Kitchen. Cheers Glen.
That's not being racist, as mentioned previously, white hair isn't suitable for methods of dreading used on black hair. As you well know afro hair is coarse and thick and can stand these methods, whereas white hair if you used black hair techniques you wouldn't get dreads, it just doesn't work and people are wasting their time with them.
You'll never gain harmony in your kitchen if you don't bring the differences of your appliances together.
The Pots, The Kettle, And The Fridge, All Run Off The 240 volt Electrical Supply, Tis The Chocolate Brown Gas Stove That Cops All The Abuse.... Cheers Glen.
Look HDH, she's your friend. I get that. I definitely wouldn't befriend her based on her actions here but maybe she has redeeming qualities. But there was no reason for her to call me a ****. Period. Also: 1. All black hair isn't coarse. My mom's is, my dad's isn't. I got my mom's color but my dad's texture throughout most of my head. My hair is actually quite soft. 2. There are actually people on here who said they've root flipped and it dreaded up but looked funky. (Which is actually true for black people which is why you find most folks who do it have REALLY small locs.) rac·ism /ˈreɪsɪzəm/ Show Spelled[rey-siz-uhm] Show IPA –noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. 2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination. 3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. Based on her whole "you can't put out information and allow people to use common sense; white people have to be protected from black hair care" spiel...she's got some race issues. Which is fine. Everyone can't be enlightened. But keep that shit to yourself.
You seem insanely paranoid about this whole "racism" thing, you're trying to create a problem when there isn't one. FWIW, I'm not sticking up for her as a friend, I'm genuinely confused as to why you think her advice is racist, as far as I'm aware, other black forum goers haven't had a problem with her advice and no one has considered it racist but you. Anyway I am going to leave this here and leave the thread to get back on topic.
I also saw your neg rep on my Chris Crocker post. YOU are the one being overdramatic about it. I was having a joke. You REALLY need to get your shit together. Period. You're fast turning into the forum whackjob.
It was overdramatic. She didn't need any help calling me a **** she doesn't need any help speaking up for herself. If she can't take people calling her on her shit she shouldn't start it.
You need a sense of humour injection me thinks. Your problem is that you don't listen, I said that I wasn't sticking up for because she was my friend I was genuinely interested in why you were calling her racist. You started acting the same way you think Vig is acting and neg repping me and shit like a crazy woman. Anyway like I said before you started with the crazy, I'm leaving this now to get back on topic I'll return the neg rep, sweetie tomorrow.
