Animals will suffer always in the nature. Suffering is a great part of their lives. This just the way things are. We can't be emotional about it. Imagine how arogant would it be to save a zebra from a lion. Nature has raised us on these natural principles, and now we are turning our backs against it. Evolutional progress has been acomplished through pain. And about humans killing for food, well we can do that without ANY suffering. The universe does not follow our earthly emotional reasoning and logic, it is above it.
We're not talking about animals in the nature, we're talking about animals who are cruely locked up and have no chance of fighting back and are shocked and beaten and shot and smashed and anything else imaginable. What is so natural about that?
Why would we hunt for animals when we can simply raise them? It's as simple as farming vegetables instead of searching for them in nature. We've become intelligent enough throughout our evolution to raise and contain animals instead of hunting. It's not evil or wrong, it is, in fact, whether or not you want to believe it, survival of the fittest. We have the same oppotunities and materials as do other animals; we're just smarter.
Some of the tatics that some use to kill animals, yes, its horrid and sad, and that I dont agree with..I saw a video of a place where they would kill chickens and it made me vomit and it was really really sad and not right. I dont agree with the way some of these places kill the animals..but that does not make ME the bad person cause I eat meat. And please dont say cause i eat it i support the way they kill them. But what about them torturing animals at, what college was it, damn cant remember, they were doing experiments on baboons, Bill Maher(sp) was talking about it, now thats fucked up and needs to be stopped.. haha, did any of this make sense, probably not, meh its early
I agree that the way we kill animals is horrible. Slaughter houses are terible places and animals do indeed suffer. But, I still eat meat. Why? Because it's delicious. IMO, food is one of the many exquisite pleasures that life has to offer. And eating the flesh of a once-living thing can be very tasty and very enjoyable. I can see the horror in it just as many vegitarians do, but I don't try to justify eating meat it in any sense. I do it because I enjoy it.
thats right, its Columbia.. that was some horrid stuff...These poor baboons were just, its just too sad to even think about it..I couldnt believe it, but then again I could...It made my stomach churn and it was just so sad..
made my stomach churn too....yesterday, i emailed julia about it, but i havent gotten a reply yet. her site is www.circleoflife.org. i plan to meet her someday
I agree that it is cruel how we raise animals and make their purpuse of life to die for our food. But hunting animals in a fair battle of a predator and a pray is perfectly ethical and natural. Of course we don't do that, and we do not respect all those dead cows that never saw freedom, and it is all very wrong. I was just speaking about eating meat in general. I don't see why is it immoral. The way we get that meat is what is wrong. Those animals live in stress and we exploit them and do not repsect them. This is the problem and not eating meat in general. Oh and a note to those who think that plants feel nothing. Perhapse they do not feel pain, but it has been prooven in laboratory conditions that plants have some kind of response to our emotions and intentions. It was not explained, allthough there are theories. Since our demand for food is huge (there are a lot of us), we can not hunt wild animals like we used to. But I think a healthy compromise would be to let cows and chickens and pigs live healthy lives without any stress in environemnt as much natural as it can be. Allso we could at least give them a clean painless death and treat them with respect. Not only would that be the right thing to do form an ethical point of view, but it would produce a healthier meat because of the lack of stress in their lives.
Sure, that sounds good, but what would people do when the price of meat tripled due to those innovations? People would likely be a little pissed because really, most people don't give a shit about a cow or a chicken.
This rise in price would get less people eating meat, and I know that heart disease and various cancer deaths would see an extreme decrease. Along with ecola and other viruses and diseases.
I understant that it is not very realistic. I was talking from a philosophical point of view. These things need the consciousnes of the whole human kind, not just a certain group of people. Same goes for war. You can't avoid a war, unless both sides understand that it is wrong. This is why things take so slow in our society. New ideas about freedom take decades to become standards, and even then there is whole bunch of conservative "brakes" that just can't let go. It's because people respond more to programs inside their heads, than logic.
It's E. coli, not ecola. And it's a bacterium, not a virus. (Sorry, I'm in microbiology this semester and would like to feel that the $800 an hour I'm paying are going to some use. )
basically, i LOVE animals......to me, it's pretty simple really.....i don't kill and then fuckin eat what i love..... often debated subject, but its pretty obvious i say....many meat eaters maybe don't hate animals....but, what the hell else is new........GREED plus, makes you beligerant anyways, but thats besides the point
Why I eat meat: I tried going vegetarian and made it nine weeks but I was always hungry, tired, and sick. I need protein and iron, because I'm a little lacking in those areas.
i hear ya and understand seeing you're 16, which always makes it tough.....only more push for you to be independent......its so hard to live by principles when you dont live an independent life and as a teenager it pretty much sucks....do the best you can and keep at it & things will begin to take shape and make sense for you. plenty of protein and iron can be reached, no worries......vegan diets are the best foods anyways.....not so much of that greasy ..... shit but, no its not the "norm" so it takes a change in habits from most restaurants and groceries, etc ..... always better places anyways.....its always better when you do the right things & live the good life, thats where you meet the best people and feel the best about yourself and all of life
I'm 14 and been vegetarian since february, vegan since a few weeks ago. I really don't feel tired or sick or anything, and I don't take any supplements, though I probably should. I like to raid the pantry and eat almonds cashews spanish peanuts and the such I'm eating a lot healthier now than I was. Instead of snacking on chips and soda it's a banana or pasta or beans
I agree with meat eaters can love animals just like vegetarians can love plants but why isn't there more defense of animals and so little of plants they deserve more respect to me {fruit and vegetibles are part of a plant {eg apple tree} or are a plant {eg carrots} }, wheres the respect and love for them? I hate it when people rip chunks out of them I mean its like ripping someones fucking arm off, come on feed a little love to the plants they are a big part of what makes this world special {and we get oxygen from trees so remember that next time you rip a chunk outta one}
