El Niño In California

So you had a couple of unusual heat spells recently, It's normally never that hot there for very long. Try Phoenix.

I saw a guy on the beach in baja one cool December morning, (upper 50's maybe lol) not another person except him and I on the entire south beach side of Bahia de San Felipe that day. He was sitting in a lawn chair right on the beach in shorts, flip flops and a down coat. He looked quite comfortable and contented. I considered him a smart man as I shivered past in my damp neoprene paddling jacket, lol

 

It always hot in the valley during summer lol.

A lot of it could be perception. I was in San Francisco on November 25th and was surprised at how everyone was bundled up when the weather was merely "brisk," (cool, not cold). And, I'm from Miami Beach.

 

Well, you look like a tourist....

 

well at least So. Cal. didn't get the usual wildfires this past fall, which with a very wet winter coming is a very, very good thing.
Don't need Malibu sliding into the ocean any more.

I prefer it to be cold rather than hot, there are only so many layers of clothes you can remove and your still hot.
cold is much easier to handle.
Plus people tend to become more sedate in cold weather, in hot weather you have lots of irritable people ready to blow at a moments notice.

We did have some warm days here last summer in SoCal. Going to buy an AC unit this year.

 

actually 2015 had record high temps all around the globe, not just here.

it's gonna be a wet and cold season with all that moisture in the air just waiting for precipitation temps.

It's been pouring rain this week, the entire first floor parking garage of one of the main malls here is flooded. ain't no joke

 

I know you all needed some rain, but not all in one day. 15inches in some parts,, holy shit..

 

It's only just begun.

 

Dogs been cooped up in the house for the last two days because of the rain. It stopped for a while so we went out for a walk. After a bit it started to rain on us, not a lot but big gnarly drops that hit with a THUD!
Asked the dog, he said "Fuck It! I'm gonna walk!" Got back just in time, it is pouring outside now.
Buddy sure is lovin' his new sweater he has, especially for this kinda weather.
sweater is all wet, Buddy is dry

streets were flooded today when we went to a school for work. people backed up a block waiting to get their kids. took us 20 minutes to move 400 feet!!!!!!

 

That's not so bad. The 10 freeway is always like that...

 

you'd be surprised how many times i see guys wearing shorts here when its -30c

its always a short fat dude though...i think theyre trying to look like that jay and silent bob guy...its kind of ridiculous to wear shorts and a heavy winter coat
