Okay hun, here's the thing. Just because someone makes a joke does not actually mean that what they say is true for all or even any of the group that they are joking about. Nor does it mean that they believe what they are saying either. They are most likely just being funny, taking a jibe at something that they think will make people laugh. Besides, there's very little point in getting insulted as most people will simply say worse if you do. Never take yourself seriously, that's the general advice which I think should apply. Oh, and here's my little contribution. An emo walks into a stationary store and asks if the white-out also comes in black.
if thatvideokid didnt adhere to a lable, he/she/it wouldnt be offended. dont coddle people that allow others to tell them what they are. Only two people got to tell me who I am, one was mom, one was dad. as soon as they named me, I got to be me again, just with a name.
looked up emo on wikipedia as suggested earlier in this thread and this made me lmao "Emo personality is also often connected with writing poetry that addresses: confusion, depression, loneliness, the futility of life, and anger, all resulting from the world's inability to understand the author" i just thought of the stereotypical emo saying in a really depressed voice "noone understands me !" as they do after i read it and started laughing .. alot 0_0
I can't stand this thread. I consider it discriminatory. Cutting is an addiction. I should know. It's not some style or some stupid thing you do to fit in. And in those rare cases where people do cut to fit in, you know something's wrong right there. They need help too if they're putting a knife to their skin just to fit in. So everybody, stop with the cutting jokes. To you, you may think it's harmless fun, but it's pain for us. It's so hard to stop; there's so much pain involved. It's an addiction and you people should feel lucky you don't have to go through the sh!t we go through. You people making jokes have NO idea. You have no idea how it is to debate whether to tell your parents you can't stop bleeding, and to dream, daydream, and fantasize about cutting, and how it is to feel so horribly alone. So alone in your pain and you try to silence it by turning it into something physical so it won't eat away at your insides. And then feel so horribly alone when you see people making fun of the horrible addiction. The addiction of blood and pain. It's an addiction that never passes; recovered cutters are rare. Most relapse. It's so unfair. You people making jokes should be ashamed of yourselves. And you people that are going to make snide comments toward me, let me tell you this. It is similiar, if not exactly to making fun of someone because of a disease they have. I've been considered emo before, even though I did not intend to be considered it. I've been diagnosed with major depression and I have to take so many pills a day just to keep me safe from myself. This May I was institutionalized for a suicide attempt. You people call yourself hippies and encourage love and peace. Making fun of people that have diseases is not called love. It is called prejudice.
I understand that cutting is an addiction, a state of mental deficiency and something that shouldn't be made a joke, but the thing is this. Emo's are practically advertising it. Emo jokes? Emo IS the fucking joke.
What do emo kids and christmas tree ornaments have in common? They all hang from trees eventually. (Made that up like 2 weeks ago) And...I'm an Emo Kid...so fuckin what. They are just jokes, why not just join in the fun? If your offended by it then you are obviously uncomfortable with how your lifestyle is and need to go to some fucking PEP rally to get some damn confidence.
*strong language warning* What the fuck is wrong with you, man?? You're making fun of a disease that RUINED my life. Whatever, man, choose to be ignorant. Choose to be an ass. Just NOT to people with fucking DISEASES.
And EXCUSE me?? Lifestyle??? A disease is a lifestyle???? Dude, I don't dress like "emos". I have severe depression. What part of that don't you understand? If you think a disease is a lifestyle.... then you're screwed, man.
Some people are startin to sound a little too.. EMO-----TIONAL How can someone claim to be emo without being emo--tional exactly? So I guess if a guy dress's in pants that are too tight, has crazy hair and listens to my chem rommance.. he is not emo?.. He is jus wearing that because its a fashion derrived from shitty bands like the verronicas and they pick up more chicks that way!? (Emo hair is hot). If he was happy go lucky but dressed in the style and liked bands that whinge about life without wanting to sit in a corner and cry all night long...he wouldn't be emo jus be dressing in the style that emo bands represent.... would that then make him try hard emo considering the fashion resembles all these things? Kinda like a gothic who likes pink butterflies and sun field glorious days Emo isn't a fashion its a state of mind...right?... I'll stick to being called Gothic thank you.
okay, i think the jokes are funny, but seriously guys, if the nice girl really has a disease, then stop making her feel worse. shes done nothing wrong to us, so why should we add on to her depression? just accept her like any other human. she cuts herself not because she wants to. cant you see that its just a way for her to refrain from doing stuffs that are MORE life threatening? we're also to blamed, cause we look down upon people just because they have low self esteem, and that triggers their depression.
god, this thread makes me want to cut myself. honestly, if you think about this, no one on here is forcing her to read the thread. its the power of free will. and then complain about a couple people poking fun at a subculture? gee, no one is making fun of a disease, we are all just makin fun of emo kids. cause they are lame. and i barely wanna touch this subject, cause im probably gunna get slammed for it. but cutting is a disease? oh come on. Everyone has the ability to make the initial choice that will lead to the future. "should i find something productive to do, or should i find a razorblade?"
