man, i thought it was gunna be something else. thats just dreaming man. i rise and fall to sleep like that all the time. i can go to salvia like that sometimes, you just gotta remember where your mind went and make it go there again. i usually skip the whole sleep paralysis stage, but i do occasionally get suckered into it. i remember one night when i had it super down. continuosly throughout the night i would wake up in my bed, and instantly go back to sleep. i developed and perfected a technique that night of envisioning myself standing perpendicular through myself and my bed. it took a little effort at first, but then as the night went on i would come back to my bed, feel two of myself as i lay in my bed, like sleep paralysis kinda, but i wasnt paralyzed, and make the one that i knew was the dream one go perpendicular with myself, you know like a + sign. then from this position i could blast off into various directions. its pretty toyt.

Like someone said before, I always get a high fever about two to three weeks before Christmas. Sometimes I have cool hallucinations, but other times, I don't (one year, all I did was stand naked in front of a mirror screaming.)

Day to day, I'll occasionally have this weird feeling where I completely zone out for a minute and view my surroundings as if I'm watching a movie. It's such a weird feeling when I snap out of it and realize that I'm not dead or sleeping. This typically happens during my monotonous daily routine.

I experienced something like wakeful sleep paralysis once. I just woke up from a dream and noticed I couldn't move a single muscle in my body. I also heard some kind of crackling/buzzing sound in my ear (like electricity). It only lasted a few seconds and then I regain control over my body.

If I looked up, do you think I would have blasted out of my body?

BTW, I'm about half way through Stalk's thread.

    Hey man.

Looking up is a trigger. I use it to blast out of my body when I am in that mode.

    Try it.

Sounds like fun. I have heard of lucid dreaming before, but I've never really tried it before. I'm reading your other thread right now, I think I'm gonna start trying to do it. How long did it take you to master this method of lucid dreaming? How often are you successful with it?

I am definitely not a master. I've been practicing for years. You can do it the first time you try...but it takes a while to get used to.
I always keep a dream journal, though. Those are essential.
Definitely give it a shot...it's phenomenal. and please let us know your experiences.

I am very interested in the sounds we hear during these experiences.

I have heard explosions louder than a sonic boom.

Every now and then I sort of wake up and am unable to move, even if its just for a second or two. I've never really given it much thought, but you have me interested now. I'll just give it a try tonight and see how things go. I should probably start keeping a dream journal too, I've been planning on doing that anyway. I'll let you know how it goes.

The trick is how long you sleep (4.5-6 hours, find what works for you)
The REM cycle is 1.5 hours. so 4.5 hours is 3 complete cycles.
Then once you wake up and lay back down, you have to remain aware.
You will start having visions, but you can't get lost in any of them. You have to kick back and watch them all like a movie....then you will feel it coming....then you look up and BOOM!

but if you're already in sleep paralysis, just relax and look up.

If you get too excited, your brains operating frequency will start oscillating higher and cause you to wake up and out. You need to remain calm so your frequency lowers.

    :)

Sounds like it takes some practice, but I'm willing to stick with it. I think the hardest part for me will be trying not to get too excited once I'm in the state of paralysis.

    You're right.
That's the hardest part for me too.

Do you know how amazing it is to do anything, be anyone, and disregard the laws of physics?

My latest journey I split into two.
I want to get better at that. It was amazing.

Haha split into two? That sounds intense man. It's 1am here so I'm gonna set my alarm for 6. I'm off to bed. I doubt this works my first try, but you never know.

    Don't doubt.
Be confident. Set your alarm for 7. You want to stick with the REM cycles.

    goodnight

I fell asleep for about four hours last afternoon, and when I was starting to wake up, I made a mental note to try your technique. I don't have a dream journal, so I just tried thinking of recent dreams I've had. It didn't work out. I suppose I should start a journal in order for it to work.

I already beat you to making that terrible joke. :D

And last night I tried this for the first time and I'm pretty sure I was in sleep paralysis for a few seconds. The problem was that I got excited and I could feel my heart starting to beat a little faster so I couldn't go much farther than paralysis. I'll keep trying though. Focusing on your breathing really helps you relax. I got pretty good at that when I used to meditate.

the whole sleeping for a while first is a good technique to remember your dreams better, but its totally not necessary. the best technique ive found is to just go to sleep like you usually do, but with the intention of staying aware as you fall asleep. when you realize your thoughts are developing without "you" really thinking them, you gotta stay calm, cause if your not calm your not gunna fall/rise to sleep, and if your not asleep you cant dream. thats like the first part of falling asleep. then you actually fall asleep and start to feel one of a few types of sensations. you could get a feeling like your on a raft spinning downstream (not what your seeing, just how it feels), or like your rising or falling or going forward from your head with increasing velocity, (ive never came out of my feet, wonder if i can), or like the one stalk talks about where you hear a noise and might feel vibrations, it happens sometimes, sometimes not. sometimes theres mixes of them, and this isnt all of the ways, ive gotten others but these are the most common ones i get. but they are all the same phase and essentially just different versions of the same, sensation?, i guess you'd call it? but this is where you can actually start to be in the driver seat again and not really worry as much about snapping out of it. its actually kinda hard to come out of this stage at will sometimes. for me, it depends on which version of the second stage i get that determines what kind of projection i'll get. the spinning feeling one is usually the hardest to stay in, the increasing velocity one is usually a really intense one where im not sure im actually dreaming. this is why i think following yourr rem cycles isnt necessary cause i swear its just like ive came out of my body and am in the real world with this one. and the loud noise one where i dont have really any moving sensations is usually the scariest one and probably the hardest one to remain calm in for me. but its the one where if i persist with it i can achieve any type of dreaming i desire; astral projection types or just regular lucid ones, or even go to other places, like the place where salvia sends your mind. its pretty fun. i really like the ones where i vibrate though, they dont happen to often for me unfortuneatly, but damn those ones are crazy.

Hmmm... well I've actually given it a go without getting 4.5-6 hours of sleep, and I finally declared it impossible. The whole REM cycle thing just makes sense, too. Everywhere I've read about it this seems to be the most important part besides controlling your brain.

If I happen to wake up at around the right time tomorrow, I might give this a go. Lately I've been waking up multiple times at night, and so it has completely destroyed my chances of trying to WILD. :(

Hopefully I can try it again once I'm not sick. I believe that has been my problem. Boy, do I miss the feeling of standing up out of my body and glancing back at myself in my own bed :D

if you wake up several times during the night then try it every single time you go back to sleep. i dont need the 4-6 hours of sleep beforehand to do it, i usually just go to sleep with this happening. but if you feel you cant do it unless you get the 4-6, then at least try it every time you wake up during the night. whenever i wake up a lot during the night i always have a lot of dreams.
