Anyone who had a hard time viewing the video, like myself, probably can't handle it because we love animals too much. I already know what happens, i've read fast food nation, i dont need to scar myself to be more opposed to modern US slaughter proceedures. it seems as though people would rather have their big macs than wait a few more minutes for quality raised beef. Poor animals. Its too bad it isnt a quick death... there has to be a more humane way to do that! it is, unfortunately, never going to end. people will always eat meat, whether i like it or not. :(

ye I don't care where the meat came from, you still had to take a life to get it. It's murder either way. The same way the milk and egg industry is murder. Though I do have more respect for those who raise/catch their own flesh food. The animals usually lead more fulfilling lives when raised in a field with other cows or in a yard with other chickens. I can't fully condone what they're doing, but it's a lot better than purchasing their flesh foods.

And to Artemis, attaching 'humane' to a method of death is an oxymoron. The theft of a life is the theft of a life, whether the animal struggled or not.

Maybe, when all that is considered is an act of killing. However, I think the question was whether or not a humane death is it possible. And, considering that euthanasia is a more widely accepted practice in various parts of the world (Australia, The Netherlands, etc.) than North America, where I can almost guarantee this video took place, I would say there are definitely more merciful alternatives to death than the one depicted from the video shown.

I'm not arguing that if animals were killed painlessly that it would justify eating meat or any other practice that involves taking the life of a nonhuman animal, simply that euthanasia and murder are on two separate planes.

P.S. Did you know that the method shown in the video is supposed to be a method of kosher slaughter? It's in the documentary Earthlings as well. Anyone seen it?

There is no such thing as a humane killing :) Actually, shouldn't that be an oxy-moron? lol
