I'm not sure how far that gets you. Making a judgement on someone and blaming them doesn't really explain anything.
Weird is cool, random and special in a different special way.. I like being special, I was normal for long enough!
From childhood's hour I have not been As others were; I have not seen As others saw; I could not bring My passions from a common spring. From the same source I have not taken My sorrow; I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone; And all I loved, I loved alone. Then- in my childhood, in the dawn Of a most stormy life- was drawn From every depth of good and ill The mystery which binds me still: From the torrent, or the fountain, From the red cliff of the mountain, From the sun that round me rolled In its autumn tint of gold, From the lightning in the sky As it passed me flying by, From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view.
Whenever I'm feeling shy in public around new strangers, I simply try to imagine what kind of weird freaky stuff they are into.
if ever there comes a day, we can stop pretending entirely, i look forward to that. provided of course, that logic and consideration, are favored by a majority at the same time. wierdo is a term that doesn't need to be resurected, though i appreciate its use to make the point. there is no such thing as 'normal'. there is no one way we are all born, or each other would be better off, for everyone to be. there is sanity, which to me, means not being ruled entirely by erratic and irresponsible emotions. but there is not, never has been, and never will be, any such thing as "normal". there have been times though, when cultures have been streight jacketed. nations may have build impressive monuments to themselves at such times. fought and won needless wars. but they have always been the beginnings of their own ends. more important though, is that they have been the most misserable times for the largest percentages of their populations. every one of us is born to be our own unique selves. it is our "wierdness" that we have to be proud of. be proud, be wierd, but also, be logical and considerate. meaning and gratification, are never to be found in gratuitous conventionality, and without them, what is anything gained by throwing them away, worth?
All this "it's good people are different and individual" is all well and good until one of those people are different and individual from yourself and then it's all negativity projected unto them for being different. You're right, I dunno who's pretending. People pretend to be something other than themselves or people pretending to be compassionate to look better in the eyes of someone else? What a farce.
Sex is never about survival of the fittest, but the most creative and without weirdos we would be extinct as a species.
Reality is not only stranger than fiction, but weirder as well which is why normal people seem to think they know what they are doing.
