The older one was already married, to a cousin who was an orphan and lived with them.
Her husband was arrested (if I remember well, it had something to do with an IED....anyways he got caught).

You do not have to go back 40 years, it continues and has continued... the recruitment of children for war has never stopped and was documented in Asia in 1998 2004 and so on. Asia takes in a lot of countries and there has definitely been civil wars in Asia in the last 20 years where by children have been forced or recruited into war atas young as the age of 8

Heaven hold those precious little girls until they are brave enough to be born again, into a loving family in a more peaceful world.

So the parents love Jihad more than they loved their daughters.

I used to think people throughout the world were becoming more savvy due to mass communication, but apparently it's led to a rise in a gullible underclass who believe anything they hear. ISIS uses mass communication to con people into pulling all sorts of atrocities, but this is sheer insane evil.

P.T. Barnum was wrong, there's more than a sucker born every minute.

Most Muslim countries have no age restriction on marriage.

Yep, Mohammad, the pedophile married Aisha at the age of 6, she remained with her parents til she was 9 at which time the marriage was consummated in medina. Mohammad was 53 years old. Shutter

Difference is this is still acceptable to marry your children off young and Mohammad has been used for lowering the marriageable age or as an excuse as to why countries are rejecting a 15 year age minimum in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has no age limit for girls to be married off and neither does Sudan... I don't think Egypt does either. Saudi Arabia has the most child brides and these are very young girls, under 12 marrying grown old men and Mohammad is used as an excuse today for it.

There was no marriageable age in the past. Mohammed used the traditional way ....... dad decides when you get married (and to whom).

Please don't badmouth Islam, your country is the one moving the goalposts.

You know the Quran does not say this. I believe the Quran say that both people must want to marry and must decide for themselves and must reach their full strength, meaning full maturity... not for the parents to approve or disprove. Mohammad had other ideas and Islamic people seem to follow Mohammad rather than the Quran,

Far from all islamic people let their daughter marry at age 9. Are all those people considered bad muslims by the others who do... because they don't exactly follow Mohammed in this regard? Seems not the case. And muslims take following Mohammed pretty serious. So no, not every pious muslim let their daughter get married around age 10 just because Mohammed had a child wife. Far from every muslim.

I never said every Muslim do, but arranged marriages and 6 year olds being married off is not frowned on and is considered acceptable if that I'd what the father wants to do, but to accept it is to approve of this.

In some cases. In a lot of other cases not so. Therefor I would conclude that the fact that some muslims still find that practice acceptable and a lot of others are not (but still considered proper followers of Mohammed) that it is more a local thing, cultural or perhaps even an individual thing in some instances.
