Recently a car rental agency put a requirement to show your F.B. Acct. in order to rent a car.

Used to be your landline# and credit card were sufficent validation.
With the advent of cell phones and pre-paid credit cards verification of ID is a more muddled proposition.

I do not want to see Facebook validation, dont have one and dont want one.

My University (I am a Grad Student and Teaching Asst.) recently asked everyone to voluntarily 'befriend' the University's Facebook Page to 'make communication of emergency information more efficient'. Bullshit! They just want to right to spy on what their students are talking about. I am so glad that I gave Facebook the axe a year and a half ago.

I am just waiting for the first report of the University expelling students for what they wrote or posted on Facebook after the students naively befriended the University. Crazy.

its not just facebook. its every commercial site you visit. if you want protection the first step is to install noscript and better privacy. these are addons for firefox. Noscript allows you to block java script and flash. better privacy deletes your supercookes/lso cookies. it cant delete all of them. some you have to get rid of manually. i use ubuntu, the are in a .Macromedia (hidden) folder inside your Home directory. Now if you want to have complete privacy you have to use Tor. you can read about tor here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network) But even these tools wont help you if you keep visiting websites like facebook.

I personally don't use Facebook, but, if not that, it is something else. Big Brother will not be satisfied until we are all being tracked and every constitutional right we have is gone.
Sad thing is, they are doing it and getting away with it, and the majority of folks don't see it for what it is.
People, W.T.F., wake up and smell the coffee.

I think that although they might not care in the short term, when college or whatever is over, and they go to apply for a job, all the sudden they might get a rude awakening that their privacy IS important and that posting pics of themselves drinking and posting information about "liking" some dissident thing will come back to bite them. Children (young people in general) aren't skeptical enough about their government. And I am no conspiracy theorist, but it is just the blatant truth.

The only website that I use my real name and have ANY clue to my identity is my banking site. And also my Mathematics Department Website, but, those sites don't indicate any 'deviant' behavior. I would never link my Math Dept. Webpage to my hip forums account, for instance. That would open up a whole can of worms for the government to 'explore' my life.

    Yes they do.
Take your privacy seriously and get informed about who does what and how.
It's not enough to mask your IP and lie about who you are. YOu need to
    change your browser's identity regularly.

Identity is last thing you change. It's just a name. Systematically delete or falsify all of the statistics. Call a friend on the blower, and claim: my name is: But on the hip forums you are ALL my friends.:D

Ultimately we all die one day...So will all this matter? Nope...I use FB to share my life's story...

I really don't care who knows because hiding everything about myself is to much of a pain...Being free means not living in fear of what others are doing...but being prepared for the worse...

Ultimately, I would rather die than be a slave...because death doesn't scare me...because it happens to all of us...

    Some sooner than later...

Stop living in fear of the big eye in the sky...because that's exactly what they want you to do!!

    Anyways, that's my 2 cents...

Thank you, it matters if the eye is with a heartful woman from the past or not.

I always found computers tell me the truth about the deal. Then the ordinary community market could re-arrange mood swings for that thought worth of finding truth at relationships. It judges for the stubborn and bad shy. I judge from real people as best I can for the soul mate' hood.
