yeah, in my opinion, Purple evolved into that "heavy" sound when they got Gillan as their vocalist - i wonder how much influence he had on the songwriting aspects of the group? makes me think of the huge difference in Pink Floyd's sound with Syd and then without
ok, i will. though i think that they are not technicly metal, metal Is my favorite type of music and black sabbath is defintaly one of my favorite bands. like top 3 but, if you want to know where my head is coming from...when i hear metal, i think metallica, pantera, anthrax, etc. so its easy to notice they dont sound the same but it takes some confidence to say that a band that the average person listening to would not call metal, call it metal. w/e. black sabbath is fucking sick.
sabbath is metal period. ask any metal band out there now. be it black label society, pantera, metallica, system of a down, type o negative, anthrax, whatever. they will all say sabbath was the FIRST and most important metal band.
here here sabbath was one of the first metal bands I ever liked and even though their style of metal isnt what I mostly listen to these days I still really enjoy it
Well, that's the most important People have always been arguing if Sabbath is just metal, pre-metal or an exceptional kind of blues rock and probably always will be. In the end it doesn't really matter what people call it.
The entire debut. Sabbath had a looseness they never had in later releases. THE WIZARD rocks. Faith No More did a great version of WAR PIGS...dare I say better than the original. Party Guy
mine would have to be, After Forever, the line "would you like to see the pope on the end of a rope/ do you think hes a fool?" is awesome, i love sabbath because they pissed off jesus freaks and didnt care who they offended, if not for them the world of metal would be either non existent or awfully different, oh back to the songs, Sweet Leaf, Snowblind, Black Sabbath, NIB, entire paranoid album, and thats it for now
