Folks listened to some pretty crappy music back then! Not all of the tunes coming out were dung, there were a couple listenable bands out there.

RedHot Chili Peppers & Janes Addiction - paving the way for pre-packaged punk during the era of post reaganomics.

Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble - some of SRVs best recordings came from this decade, and is almost the only thing from the 80s I still hear on a regular basis.

Ooo, ooo! Have you seen the movie, "Iron Eagle"? The first one, I mean? "You're Not Gonna Take It" is on the soundtrack! I love Dee Snider's voice. I also have a Widowmaker album. That's Dee's project in the 90's. I think Twisted Sister reunited later on, too...

But, my god... You like all the stuff I like! :D

Use Your Illusion I and II are fantastic albums. They took Appetite For Destruction to another level higher and added so much more with those. Well, they released the "Illusions" in the early 90's, but that's alright, lol.

That reminds me(since the drummer of GN'R at the time was Matt Sorum), do you like The Cult at all?

I haven't heard any music by the Cult, being honest. Are they good?
Yes! Use Your Illusion had the bes6t stuff. Don't Cry, November Rain, Civil War, but I like some songs on GNR Lies which is maybe my favorite. Apetite for Destruction was great too.
Heard the song "Used To Love Her"?

Oh yeah, "Used To Love Her"... I remember that song, though, it's been SO LONG since I last listened to that song. That one's on "Lies" album, right? "Patience" is such a cleverly written song.

Now, The Cult... You're missin' out, I tell ya. They have awesome songs. If you get the chance, check out "Sweet Soul Sister", "Wild Hearted Son", "Soul Asylum", and "Fire Woman". El Neato.

I love talking about music, LOL.

Patience was written after Axl's child was born dead. Sad thing, too bad people make fun of people when their children die i.e. Kurt Cobain.

It's alright. Some people have some serious issues, I tell ya. It's best just to ignore such individuals. I sometimes can't hold myself back and end up arguing with them, but I've also learned that's usually a waste of time.

Serious misfortune happening to people is nothing to joke about, be it Axel's baby, Kurt Cobain's death, or Jason Becker's coming down with ALS.

It's just... I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't think Axl is a crazy asshole. Why do people so rashly judge what they can't understand???? Nobody understands Axl. Not everything about him is in big bold print. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. He's not crazy, he's just misunderstood. For anyone who thinks he is the idiot loser and he is just this messed up jerk here's some valuable info from Axl himself. Quotes coming

"Basically, I've been rejected by my mother since I was a baby. She's picked my stepfather over me ever since he was around and watched me get beaten by him. She stood back most of the time. Unless it got too bad, and then she'd come and hold you afterward. She wasn't there for me. My grandmother had a problem with men. I've gone back and done the work and found out I overheard my grandma going off on men when I was four. And I've had problems with my own masculinity because of that. I was pissed off at my grandmother for her problem with men and how it made me feel about being a man. So I wrote about my feelings in the songs."

I should be posting this where I'm arguing with people over Axl Rose. Ah well.

"I remember a needle. I remember getting a shot. And I remember being sexually abused by this man and watching something horrible happen to my mother when she came to ge me. I don't know all the details. But I've had the physical reactions of that happening to me. I've had problems in my legs and stuff from muscles being damaged then. And I buried it and was a man somehow, 'cause the only way to deal with it was bury the shit. I buried it then to survive -- I never accepted it."
    -Axl

I'm just so pissed. Am I the only one who can see Axl's beauty????? I just had a HUGE argument with my sister over him. We aren't even talking. She hates him.

See, that's like me with Michael Jackson. Another misunderstood fellow who's constantly put into the pedophile category just because he CAN relate to what kids have to say. I'd like to think I understand how he feels at least a little bit because I've experienced pretty much the same thing even here on Hip Forums, just because I can talk to teens without being condescending like many "adults" do.

I still believe Axel is just like everyone else. I don't believe he is that jackass everyone thinks he is. I just think his actions have at times confused people because, like you pointed out, so many people are unable to read between the lines. Why is that, you ask? I say that's because they've been programmed into only seeing what's been presented before their eyes and make a judgement based on the societal expectations/standards/norm. Not many people practice case-by-case observation any more, if you've noticed.

Wow. I'm glad you can understand. I actually got banned from a message board defending him. Those people were mean. Watching them tear him apart made me want to just freaking cry, and I felt like I couldn't let them crucify him, like I had to stand up for him at all costs because nobody else would. Maybe his acting out of anger a reflection of inner pain. I act rashly and with hostility when someone says something that really hurts, like about Axl. Just makes me hate the world even more. But eventually I got banned. But it was worth it. I wrote a song for him too

See how lame that is, those who diss and dishonour others get to stay on, and you get banned for basically speaking against hate. And I've seen the same kinda shit happen in various places too, myself. We live in the world of hypocricy and contradiction, I can tell you that much.

But we must not succumb to such negative force of....hell, I don't even know what it is...mainstreamism, perhaps? Kinda explains why we never stop hearing about wars and unrest and what-have-you in this day and age, eh... 2006, and we'd think we've seen more than enough examples to realize peace should be the main focus in the world today.... *shakes head*
