Moss, our back garden is full of it, and it is really nice to walk barefoot on, especially on a hot day when its still a bit cool and damp. A nice contrast from the hard warm dry dusty path. With it being quite humid and sticky at the moment, if not particularly hot, the cool tiled kitchen floor is very nice aswell, sort of feels like the heat is being drawn out through you feet.

I spent some time on labor day at a college campus. I enjoyed some warm smooth paved parking lots. My feet are so pliable that pavement feels soothing. There were some fields of grass that I walked through that were so soft, almost like cotton. It felt heavenly. I haven't felt grass that soft in a long time. People miss out on all of this. Everyone should give up their shoes and socks for a day.

:sunglasse I find that pavement is my barefooting surface of choice. I like the way it leaves my feet jet black after a night of barefooting. Dirt would be a close second but, I find it doesn't stick to my soles like the grime I encounter when parading accross the pavement. Hiking barefoot through forrests can be overrated because you never know what you might step on there. Afterall, glass seems to be everywhere

Grocery store linoleum tiles, especially in the freezer section on a hot summer day.
    Squishy Mud.
    Cobbled brick tiles.
Cool concrete floor, like at one of the big discount stores (Costco, Sam's Club, etc.)
Cool springy grass, fresh with morning dew, and just a hint of moisture under the soil.
    Umm...anywhere!

I know exactly what you mean... I went camping not too long ago, spend the whole time barefoot... in the morning, caroline and I spent some time in the campsite's play park, which had the same suface... and it felt great... really spongy under foot... lots of fun to walk on :D

my favorite surfaces are crunchy gravel roads in the back country and hot asphalt streets in the summer. I even park far away from stores so I can walk a longer distance across parking lots. feels great for some reason...

    Hi!

Wow, gravel, hot asphalt? Aren't you afraid of burning the soles of your feet? Isn't sharp gravel painful to walk on?

Guess your soles must be quite leathery!

BTW, are you a girl or a boy?

    Regards

    DG

I generally walk around with shoes on, because I don't like a hundred stares. Anyways, the other day, I was wanting to take a shortcut across a muddy field. I wasn't too in the mood for getting my shoes dirty, so off came the shoes, and i crossed the field barefoot, cleaned my feet on some grass, and put the shoes back on.

I gotta say that it was a unique experience. Cold mud is quite a surface to walk on, and it was made even more strange by the fact that there were a couple of puddles in the field, and that the mud was ankle deep at some points.

Here in oklahoma, in some places the soil is more clay than mud. When it rains a lot, it gets really soft and squishy, and feels REALLY good. It's really smoooooth, like clay, but squishy like mud. LOVE it!!

    - A very soft-sand beach (the best ones are in the Florida Panhandle, and on the west coast, near Sarasota).

    - A healthy lawn of St. Augustine grass, or Bermuda grass.

    - Driving a car (I don't like driving, but it's better barefoot).
