Yeah hes top of my list too although you have to include cheech n chong. Would Howard marks count or is he just a Nice guy?
I grew up with The BeaTles [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkZC7sqImaM&feature=related Lennon was; for me a Hippie with conviction
Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues is my favorite Hippy. Just watch him perform "Melancholy Man" with the Moodies on YouTube (easy to find) and you will see why he is the 'coolest' hippy ever!
My favourite hippy is a DEAD hippy. Hmm, most of the hippies already mentioned appear to be dead... Alright then... HITLER is my favourite hippy! Nya!
John Lennon and Yoko Ono in their naked sit-in. I remeber following the news about them daily. It helped ease the daily blast of the Viet Nam War. Clockwork Orange. Hair Santana Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, ZZ Top & my love; Elvis Presley. Chicago 7 during the Dem. Convention, grass root organizations. LOVE
Picking a "favorite hippy" is like picking a favorite parent. Hippy, to me, isn't about one person. It's community. No one person is idiolized. Everyone is equal.
One that stands out for me would be "Meathead" in All in the Family. The way he clashes with Archie Bunker really makes the show.
just for the record, it was Chicago Eight until Bobby Seale was put on a separate trial. had the honor of meeting Ron Kovic during the 08 Democratic convention. This after being an extra in his film. Pie Man was around, too. Met Wavy on a few occasions.
Wow, couple strange hippies listed in this thread. My partial list: John Lennon George Harrison Donovan Leech Richard Alpert Alan Watts (I think he would qualify) Wavy Gravy Grace Slick Paul Kantner Tom Laughlin (I think I spelled that right, you know Billy Jack) Ken Kesey and Jay the Hippie
