Amazing... someone else has seen it! Can you recommend any others like COLC? I've heard "Dark City" is similar, but they say DC is not very good...

    Pleasantville
Dancer, Texas-Population 81 - A low budget film, but one of my all time favorites, it's so very good. Deep, all about friendship and leaving the place in which you gre up. I wish I could get it on DVD.

    This World, Then The Fireworks
    My First Mister
    Freeway 2

There are so many more. I've spent several late nights watching IFC and Sundance. I've seen some totally wacked out movies that no one has ever heard of.

"Even Cowgirls get the Blues" is the one with Uma Thurman. It's based on the book with the same title by Tom Robbins. Great movie, even better book.
Many of the movies I watch are ones that not alot of people hear about. I love Baraka, Donnie Darko (more common) and many of the others that people have mentioned here.
Has anyone seen the movie "Wildflowers"? It's with Darryl Hannah as a hippy mom to a girl that doesn't know she's her mom. The music's great, the filming/photography is great and it takes place in San Francisco and just north across the Golden Gate Bridge. I love this movie!

I didn't think that Dark City was that bad - we studied it in first year film. Visually, it's quite cool, sort of noiry with eternal night and so on. It's also got some interesting ideas behind it, about what makes us who we are and so on. It's worth a look.

I might do that. It was directed by Alex Proyas who has a dark style I like, but I'm worried it won't live up to his masterpiece, The Crow.

it's about a school shooting, and it's taken from lots of people's point of view... it's just very cool, the way they shot it.

A french film called "Mon Vie En Rose" or "My Life in Pink". Awesome story of a little boy who wants to wear women's clothing and more. Also features a crazy dream-like sequence where this Barbie-doll like tv character becomes a sort of Fairy Godmother.

    What's Up, Tiger Lily?

A few people have seen it, but largely it's pretty obscure.

    Eddy and the Cruisers...

at least, I don't think many people know it...

anyway, it's about a musician that everyone thinks killed himself...

but they never found the body!!!!

The question is...is he still alive???

    Ya...it's a cool movie...the 2nd ones better though...

That's an amazing film. It's a rock'n'roll movie showing how music was before the 60s revolution. Eddie wants to change things, but the world is not ready for "a bunch of guys makin weird noises". All hippies must see this movie!

    Whoa. I just watched it.

    Whoa.

Being an American, I was a little shocked by the detailed sex scenes (here, it would be considered soft-core porn!), but if you can get past that, yeah, amazing, amazing film. Betty's character gets into a pretty controversial subject, which is also taboo in the USA. So I can see why no one's ever heard of it here. We are all just mindless pawns of Aaron Spelling. ;) Great suggestion

Haha, I saw Butterflies are Free, I see someone mentioned it~~ I liked it, but i didn't get to see the end.
I Heart Huckabees was freakin hilarious, i just watched that the other day :)
how bout Japanese Story? that movie was quite strange....
    Rabbit Proof Fence
    Motorcycle Diaries
    I loved the Baraka Movies
    Princess Mononoke/Spirited Away
Man, I guess none of these are too obscure, I don't have the resources :p

Isn't that a Woody Allen film?. Funny stuff.

    My vote is for 'Afterhours'.
