But it's one of the best songs of the 90's, and, had one good message in it. It's not said in the most elequant way but the line about always using a condom was a good message for a time when most people still didn't care too much about AIDS and the popular music before this was hair metal and GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS. And really most musicians still wouldn't make a line in their songs about using a condom

    from a young G's perspective
And before me dig out a bitch I have ta' find a contraceptive
You never know she could be earnin' her man
and learnin' her man - and at the same time burnin' her man
Now you know I ain't with that shit, Lieutenant
Ain't no pussy good enough to get burnt while I'm up in it

 I beg to differ, but I'm not gonna argue over different tastes. Just the fact that it is one of the best songs of the 90s cause it promotes the use of a condom is laughable. I guarantee you there are more songs out there from the same period that talk about wrappin your willy.

Any of Gangstarr's shit is better :p
(Not even gonna mention A Tribe Called Quest...oops)

wtf I never said it was one of the best songs of the 90's because of that, it's one of the best songs of the 90's for it's amazing beat combined with the top shape Dre and Snoop were in and how tight the rhymes are.

I think they in a mood for some mothafuckin G shit

The Tribe is toooooo uplifting. You can't help but wanting to dance to that shit. This song is tight

Pharrell - Can I Kick It Like That? remix, Pharrell is too sick. (Especially with Snoop)

MadCap - it ain't the best song of the 90s and it isn't close to being the best lol

    Tribe
    Can I Kick It
Scenario <- I can't even explain this song
Common - I Used to Love H.E.R. (This is one of the best songs EVER, let alone 90s)

Oh but it is, just as Smells like Teen Spirit is, both are neither the best songs from either artist, but the positive impact they had on music combined with the fact the nerve they touched in people that made millions of people around the world love the songs, and the fact on their own they are great songs makes them both some of the greatest songs of the 90's

    Let me reiterate...

    Common

    I Used to Love H.E.R.

How are you going to tell me that is not the greatest song of the 90s? THAT message had a huge impact on HIPHOP. This is the epitome of underground hiphop, the epitome of talent, the epitome of what HIPHOP actually is. This is the essence of the genre

Like what Sunfighter said, Ain't Nothing But a G Thing is sexist, and hateful and it really can't be appreciated to the fullest when half the world's population is being looked down on.

However, it is a good song, it just isn't the best.

and who's arguing it's not a great song?

Greatest is a relative term for taste, but that song would be up there too.

I'm just saying - on the terms of pure talent...I'd have to go to Common. It's true taste plays a huge part in it, and for that it really is hard to decide.

I wouldn't say G Thing is the best Dre or Snoop can do, though...I don't know why you chose that one haha

I don't think it's the best either one of them did either, but at the same time it is on the fact on how they made a song that was both respected and loved by so many people, even people who don't like rap in the slightest normally you can see grooving to that song

    Eh...maybe
There are a lot of other songs that are widely appreciated by "non-rap" listeners. Hell by those standards, we could call Lil Wayne the best artist to have graced the Earth

meh, see in 15 years no one is gonna be talking about Wayne, just like no one talks about Nsync anymore even though they sold a bajillion albums that teenagers loved. But here we are coming up on like 17 years later and we're still talking bout Dre and Snoop

You all are arguing over who has the best lyrical capabilities, it seems, so I'm gonna go ahead and squash the entire argument by posting a link to a T-Rock mix that will likely blow everyone's mind, if you appreciate the "machine-gun" style of delivery. haha Some of you have heard this, but if you haven't heard it, PLEASE listen to the entire mix and you will hear some amazing shit.

Here are some more T-Rock songs:

    "Mary Jane"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvDNqAY8gx4&feature=related

Indeed. The way he speeds it up and slows it down is incredible. I just wish more people could hear his music, because most people haven't even heard of him, which saddens me. lol
