Revolver. its actually one of the only beatles albums i really enjoy. i mean, i like the beatles, and i respect what they did for music, just not my cup of tea.
I've always liked their "psychadelic" period the best so it would be a toss up between Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. I'd have to give the edge to Sgt. Pepper because of it's impact and musical significance. Best vocal/harmony: If I fell Best electric guitar: And your bird can sing Best acoustic guitar: Blackbirds Best bass: Baby you're a rich man Best drums: A day in a life Best crafted "pop" song: Hello Goodbye The Beatles Anthology releases are a treat for any long time Beatles fan too. The acoustic take of Strawberry Fields is awesome and worth the price alone! ~Seven
that last post would be good if i could read it... (i have bad eye sight) I realy enjoy Revolver and Abby..byebye all
sgt peppers. but i like them all, its just that my favorite beatles song (a day in the life) is on that onel, so i guess its my favorite.--+peace+--
I agree with almost all of that except for: Best drums: A Day in the Life I would say best drums I have heard in a Beatles tune would be on "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)." I love that beat that it opens with. It might be the coolest beat I've heard.
Yeah, you're talking about The Beatles 1. I've got it and yes, it's great, but not really a reflection of their greatest work. It merely shows what the mainstream likes to listen to. uh, HELLO EVERYTHING the Beatles done was mainstream because they are the ultimate in mainstream!!! You won't find ANOTHER band that is played more on radio, tv or whose albums are sold more widely. Not sure what point you were trying to make but you sure as hell didn't succeed!
I think the point was the super popular (mostly Lennon/McCartney) songs... There's soo much stuff that's not on there that is soo wonderful...and the neglect for the talent of dear Mr. Harrison (sorry...I'm a George Harrison fan...I had to throw it in there...)... It would be wonderful if the public could get a taste of Norweigen Wood, Within You Without You, and soooo many other songs that weren't radio hits... I think that was the point that was made...Beatles 1 is just the radio hits...the Beatles are sooo much more... That's a lovely compelation album for a quick fix but there's nothing like the flip side of Abbey Road ::sigh::
yes, but I have literally heard every single Beatles album song played on the radio. (with the exception of Revoulotion number 9 for obvious reasons hehe)They are ALL radio songs. Which does point out the fact they are the greatest band EVER, but also that ALL their stuff is main stream. The whole point of 'One' was to have a compilation of all the Beatles NUMBER ONE hits, if you want a greatest hits, miught be better to check out those blue and red coloured double cd's of Beatles songs (the name of them passes me by hehe)
What?! You're kidding yourself if you think that EVERYTHING The Beatles did was "mainstream!" You're telling me that "Tomorrow Never Knows," Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite!," "Within You Without You," "Flying," "Wild Honey Pie," "Piggies," "Rocky Raccoon," Yer Blues," "Helter Skelter," "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," "You Never Give Me Your Money," "Sun King," and the rest of Abbey Road are ALL mainstream!?! Those songs probably would not make it on the radio. Just because you and I like those songs, doesn't mean the whole world does. You obviously don't understand anything. I was saying that the songs on The Beatles 1 don't reflect their best work. Yes I realize that it's a compliation of their #1 Hits, but just because it is a #1 hit doesn't mean that it's automatically their best work. Not all of their music was mainstream, and I haven't the faintest idea of what you're getting at. What in the world are you getting at!?! First of all, unless you are listening to a Beatles only station, there is NO WAY that you have heard EVERY Beatles album song on the radio. I listen to classic rock stations and I hardly ever hear The Beatles at all. I know that the point of The Beatles 1 was to have a compliation of their number one hits. I have the "blue and red" greatest hits collection along with all of The Beatles studio albums. Not all of their music is "mainstream" and you have no idea what you're talking about. Number one hits are not always an indicator of an aritists best work. Artists often write specific songs to be a "hit." Many great bands have done it. "Hit" songs don't mean all that much.
The only Beatles songs I've ever heard on the radio are "Ticket to Ride" and "Get Back" (numerous times!!! arrrg!)...oh and the Oldies station plays "Beep Beep Mmm Beep Beep Yeah!" from "Drive My Car" for the intro to traffic... I wish that people could hear the Beatles' true best work... ::sigh:: My friends have a band called Turn Left At Greenland...and I told them that they should just play the flip side of Abbey Road and call it a show...hehehe...if any band ever did that I'd love them to pieces... I think that "Piggies", "Yer Blues", and the rare white albumness needs more air play... ::sigh:: Sorry all...I'm a big one for trying to get people to notice Harrison's work (aside from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Something", and "Here Comes the Sun"...)...as well as Lennon/McCartney. Aside from the fact that I love George's music...it annoyed me that this Beatles book I got for my clarinet had sooo much Lennon/McCartney (even uncommon stuff like"She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" and "The Ballad of John and Yoko") but they didn't have "Taxman" or "I Need You". Come on!!! ::sigh:: Sorry...I'm good... Once again...ignore me if I bother you...
Nah, you're not bothering me! And I agree with you, George Harrison was an amazing songwriter. He definitely got the dirty end of the stick when he was with The Beatles. I absolutely LOVE "Love You To!" It's my favorite Beatles song, actually. Revolver wouldn't be the same without it. "I Want to Tell You" is great too. "Blue Jay Way" is another one of my favorite Beatles tunes. Go George Harrison!
