You would think that. In theory its a subjective thing but when it comes to finding a good sense of humour in Australians it turns out to be objective. Australians have a poor sense of humour. Its an objective fact. Believe me, there was a time when I put a signifigant amount of thought into the idea that maybe... maybe there was some brilliant riddle in this. Maybe the Australian sense of humour was so sublime and yet so spectacular that it was 'above our heads'. But no. It turns out that Australians are simply unable to develop a good sense of humour. Nothing more, no mysteries, no ironic enigma. Just 'barely humourous'. At best, you poor folk can be 'slightly amusing' and let me say something about that - there is NOTHING wrong with that. Heck.. I think you should be proud of it. Its just time you realise thats all you are doing. No, its not 'Dry' humour. Its not that 'we dont get it'. Its not high-brow or even 'low brow'. Its Slightly Amusing at best. Thats all. Anyways.. look at the bright side, you can do other things to improve yourselves. Things like making a real flag for your nation. I liked that one in the Olympics with the bright natural colours and the Kangaroo in the middle. Actually.. now that I think about it.. the 'Star Chart' is pretty funny in its own way. Hmmmm?
And you think we're so over-patriotic and proud to actually buy that deliberately ignorant attempt to arouse anger?
Obviously he had his heart broken by an Aussie chick. Or bloke. Why else would he waste his time carrying on like this If i actually cared about your drivel i'd feel flattered you like to talk about my country so much. Here's a hint! Get rid of the chip on your shoulder and talk about somerthing you actually know about. You're not one of us, you can't know us therefore. Oh, star chart? Do you mean the Southern Cross? Interesting! I'd have thought you would know all about that being such an expert on OZ.
Yeah.. that was really 'funny' alright. But there is the point, only you people like to pretend like the Southern Cross is obvious. Like anyone should know LOL! Like anyone could care less what a navigator might use (200 years ago) if he were trying to get his boat around. Wow. The national flag is literally 'Directions'. "Oh.. do you mean the Southern Cross" Why Yes. You are known throughout the world for what might appear at night, if I was looking through a square lensed telescope and in the right direction. Now that IS funny!
I used to find Media Watch quite funny at times especially when it was presented by Stuart Littlemore although David Marr did a pretty good job as well. Liz Jackson quite obviously knew her stuff but like Monica Attard, she needed to be more acerbic in her commentary. I remember how years Media Watch showed how the Adelaide Advertiser reported in very nice way how some horses had lost the race. This classic piece of silly journalism became a news item in the UK after being on Media Watch. Also the death of Alan Jones Live was hilarious.
