johnny depp has a great line when they're at the circus, right after the merry go round. a vendor comes up to Raoul Duke and asks him to buys something. very subtley, Duke says, "Nothing, I want nothing" absolutely scrumtulescent Not to mention: "Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Has it been five years? Six? It seems like a lifetime -- the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. But no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant. There was madness in any direction, at any hour... You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right. And that, I think, was the handle -- That sense of inevitable victory over the forces of old and evil. Not in any mean or military sens; we didn't need that, our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave... So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high water mark -- that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back." Go see "Where The Buffalo Roam".....simply fantastic...Bill Murray and Peter Doyle!
When he is checking into the Mint hotel and and just rants like a madman, and then breaks down at the end. Or when they arrive at the Mint hotel, and he turns the car off, but he is still following the windsheild wipers with his eyes and making the "hmm hmm" noise. A better question would be who can name all the tiny little objects that show show up more than once. Like look for all the "Z" in the movie.
i dont remember where it is but: when johnny depp has taken, i think it was, acid and find himself in the middle of a fucking reptile zoo. and then later something realy funny happens but i cant remember. anyway, thats funny.
Read the book, it's a good movie, but they left out so much of the original transcript. I had to watch the movie a couple times before realizing exactly what was going on. It's a wonder that the man is still alive. And still writing at that!
I have learned one thing in my time with dealing with drugs. You can turn your back on a man, but you can NEVER turn your back on a drug. Especially when its waving a razor sharp hunting knife in your face. I love the whole movie, the book even more, but that scene is one of my faves. It is so true.
Hahaha i love this movie, i dl after hearing so much about it here. I love the bit where hes in the 'matrix' club There i was.. Mother of god there I am!.. Holy fuck?? Oh .. Clearly I was a victim of the drug craze.. Hahah that bit where he double takes the guy is so good But i HATED dr gonzo or whoever he was. I jsut hated his character. So violent and moody, i hate poeple like that, and i hated him, and i get uncomfortable when i hate characters that much, even the baddies. Like, the main guy (i cant remember his name) was heaps funny but the big guy sucked shit i hated him i wanted to stab him. Hehe the little lines in the movie aresometiems best. Like where he sees the world war 2 stuff on the walls, and hes like 'Theres a lizard on the roof ' 'jsut shoot it'' no, i want to study its moves..' (paraphrasingly of course) hehe that was good Ive watched it a few times, and each tiem i notice new things
