    Scythians High Plains Drifters
The Scythians were a barbaric group of pre-Common Era nomadic tribes who are a fascinating example of an ancient cannabis using group. The Scythians played a very important part in the Ancient World from the seventh to first century BC.

Tinctures, of and by themselves, were nothing new at the time. They had been in use by Western Medicine for centuries before than. What was new, and only introduced after O'Shaughnessy was the use of Cannabis in their preparation. For antique collectors, this means that Cannabis Tinctures first began to make their appearance around 1840, but were soon very, very common. Not only did it make its way into Brand/Trade name products, but it also became common practice for apothecary shops to manufacture their own tincture.

The lower classes of India use either a few pulls at a ganja pipe or sip a glass of bhang at the end of the day to relieve fatigue (Grinspoon, 1971: 173), to obtain a sense of well-being, to stimulate appetite, and to enable them to bear more cheerfully the "strain and monotony of . . . daily routines" (Geller and Boas, 1969: 5). These types of users and objectives are frequently the reverse of those in the United States where marihuana users consider themselves an exclusive and advanced "in-group" (Andrews and Vinkenoog, 1967: iii). A major intoxicant use in India is for religious purposes.

    History of Cannabis Intoxicant Use
Galen wrote in the second century that it was customary to promote hilarity and happiness at banquets by giving the guests hemp (Reininger, 1967: 14-15).

"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
    --President George Washington, 1794

George Washington used hemp extract to ease the pain from his wooden false teeth. Thomas Jefferson grew Marijuana, and in letters written by him he mentions the seeds of one crop being particularly good. If he was only growing rope, it is unlikely that one strain would be much different than another.

Denialists are as responsible as the flat out liars. All of the years of suffering because of just say no profiteers mostly. All reefer madness is a front for profiteers. Those keeping competition off the markets and those directly profiting on prohibition. Those not getting paid to spew denials are just plain stupid. Washington and Jefferson grew hemp and separated the males from females the same as any grower today. To get a higher potency. Medicinal value has been known for thousands of years. Yet these denialists would have us believe it never reached America. We have old medicine bottles containing cannabis for a variety of symptoms and illness treatments. Anyone from the mid 1800's to the MTA would have had no reason not to use it. Along with the following actual censorship of research and more lies keeping it a schedule#1 narcotic. I see no way to deny most of the country used it. Just seems cruel to keep the sick people in pain and seizures over profiteers casting doubt. As I said no lower life-forms on earth. At least the profiteers have a motive. Here ya go denialist. Not only the founders but every president up to the prohibition and then every president since the 50's illegally. Drying up those cannibinoids must be rough. Obedient lapdogs spending energy to keep people on white powders in spite of them not working. Putting people into cages for relieving pain. How low can they go? If there is ever real Justice found again these dung worriers should be the first hung by the neck until dead.

Cannabis Shrinks Tumors: Government Knew in 74

Scientists Re-Re-Re-Discover Cannabis Stops Metastasis In Aggressive Cancers!
The ominous part is that this isn't the first time scientists have discovered that THC shrinks tumors. In 1974 researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, who had been funded by the National Institute of Health to find evidence that marijuana damages the immune system, found instead that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice -- lung and breast cancer, and a virus-induced leukemia. The DEA quickly shut down the Virginia study and all further cannabis/tumor research...

    CANNABIS TINCTURES AND FLUIDEXTRACTS:
Technically speaking, a TINCTURE is nothing more than an alcohol-base liquid mixture.

Tinctures are useful as they can be used to liquify oil-based substances, like Medical Cannabis, which like any other oil base substance, doesn't mix too well in water-base mixtures.

Thanks for that. It's fairly rare around here that someone can back up what they say with a real reference. I don't know why you feel it is necessary to insult me. I'm only trying to get to the truth.

Because I am puzzled, I sent an email to Chris Conrad, asking for his source. I'll post his response when I get it.

Oh, I did find this. Doesn't look good for your argument, DdC. Perhaps you were a little quick to insult me.

apparently he didn't even read past the statement to see that it can't be verified as ever have been written by Jefferson.

"some researchers think so" doesn't say much and it kind of weakens the pro-marijuana movement when one quotes easily debunked urban legends.

By the way, that fake story about the Founding Fathers was debunked in 1971!!! Just goes to show that when people really want to believe something, nothing will stand in their way. But their credibility and reputation goes to hell.

sharing opinion and discussing "facts" doesn't have to constantantly devolve into name calling and right vs. wrong, our opinions are driven by environment and experience, which is different for all of us.

OK, OK. Sorry about that. But please you must realize that sarcasm doesn't work well in online forums. You need to be a little more straight-forward. Also, I've been fighting some battles in other threads with people who are posting bogus Thomas Jefferson quotes as if they were true.

That's true about sarcasm online, and I didn't realize that about the other threads. My bad.

there is no evidence to suggest that Jefferson was a habitual smoker

US Civil War Generals Were Hash Heads

There is plenty of evidence that I posted. Boozers don't usually contemplate the universe. Besides, I didn't post the Jefferson quote. It was grown, it was known for thousands of years from bhang to toking chillums and hookah's. Washington's letter shows he tried separating the males out, and we know why that is done. It was used in world's fairs and the Paris The Club des Haschischins, I posted, and that several founding fathers were in Paris that summer. I showed you the candy sold at sears. It was legitimate for anyone until the liars of industry outlawed it in 37. More to remove competition than from the dangers. Yet you are so naive you believe they were above the norm and abstained because they knew in the far future it would be demonized and give them a bad rep? lol

THE TALE OF THE HASHISH EATER
-- From "The Tale of King Omar bin al-Nu'uman
and his Sons Sarrkan and Zau al-Makan",
*The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night*
Nights 142-143, Translated by Richard F. Burton.

Gullible as it gets. I think it is easier to remove evidence than this denialism and idol worship you put so much energy into. Now its up to the doubters and gossip mongers to prove he didn't smoke. It was also posted how the government has lied and censored and removed records. So all in all I think someone would have to be a blind fool to try and think they didn't use it. Same fossil fool profiteers lying about climate change or creationism proving we are mud people from their god spitting into clay as more scientific than us coming from the apes. Silly fear of hobgoblins and just say no philosophy equals . Pitifools. Thats more of an observation than an insult.

The Fitz Hugh Ludlow Hypertext Collection

The medicinal aspects alone got most Americans high, even kids. So that makes more presidents using, than not. Except I find it hard to believe they knew about it and didn't use it for 50 years until O'Shaunassy wrote about it in the mid 1800's. They established trade with China, Marco Polo could have easily brought some back as he did other items of interest. Spices and silk. India, Turkey and China all with long standing records of using it medicinally and recreationally. All with contact with American presidents and wealthy and yet this just wasn't discussed or tried? again lol. As I said they grew it and separated it for higher potency but didn't use it? Thats pretty far out even for naive twits. Or deny the bottles of cannabis tinctures and elixers. Good to get Chris Conrad to verify his sources but its only one bit of evidence compared to the scores of posts. As I said the liars will be brought to justice sooner or later. People can follow blindly and even lie because of good intentions. But now there is just too much evidence cannabis doesn't belong as a schedule #1 narcotic and too many who have used it to keep on believing the reefer madness and spreading the gossip.

    The history of drug use

I'm satisfied with the evidence even if proving it doesn't mean a hill of beans. I look forward to the drug war tribunal to bring justice to the people who have put up with gossipers and denialists far too long. Take it or leave it. Leave it up to the stoners to make the cops and DARE class honorees and boozers look silly as they sound. Your money gods say it has no medicinal value too, yet they ship rolled joints to IND patients. At the end of the day all the denialists do is keep a little girl having 300 seizures a week when cannabis brought them down to 3 or 4 a month. Thousands in the same position going to prison for the same relief for their kids all because of denialist lying greed stricken mother fuckers. Deny that!

You seem to think I'm anti-marijuana when I've smoked it every day for 43 years!!! LOL. You are so extreme in your views that you cannot stand anyone questioning anything. You think anyone who doesn't think just like you is against you and your beliefs. You really ought to look at how close-minded you are.
