oh, and if you're applying for a rental property and they want to do a credit check, just say "sorry for wasting your time" and walk out. If it's a property management company, you will probably be living in a giant box with hundreds of other people and it won't be comfortable. Try to find a guy or a family that rents out a few properties. They'll deal with you on a more personal basis. and are less likely to be slumlords. and won't charge you for a credit check that you know you won't pass anyways.
i'm pretty sure none of my landlords have ever run a credit check on me. 570 is not a good score, but i think it's more middle of the road than bad, and i don't think the 20 point drop is that significant.
yeah i went through this hell. in my case, my "mother" took out several cedit cards in my name, and ran up almost $67,000.00 in debt in my name. :bigcry: it cost me almost $6,000.00 in legal fees to get my good name back! those credit rating agences are merciless sons and daugthers of bitichs! my lawyer charge me $150.00 to have a full background check run on me. that was back in the days before the internet and broadband. today you can pull up the intellus website and have a full background check run for $80.00. i have used intellus over and over to run full background checks on people i was dating, or considering to hire. intellus never has let me down. you will need to have a full background check run on yourself. credit reports don't tell you much. it is only with a full background check that you get the full data on how your credit is and will affect you. your smart and wise to relise you don't know shit about credit scores, and are asking for help. there are 3 major credit reporting agencies. all 3 of them use a different credit scoring system. you will need reports from all 3 credit reporting agenices, and you will need to learn how to read and understand you credit scores from all 3 agenices. mate, your now up the same shit creek without a paddle that i was once up. i understand all too well what a major pain in the ass this is! it is not the end of the world... it just sure as hell seems that right now where your at. here is how to "get your ducks in a row:" 1. get that full background check run on yourself. 2. learn how to read and understand the credit scores of all 3 major credit reporting agencies. 3. find an attorney who will take your case on a pro bono publico bases and/or contact freel legal aid. if you do these 3 things in the above order, you will save yourself one hell of a lot of pain, heartache, and stress! good luck to you mate... i'm pulling for you!
Well you defaulted, not the end of the world unless you intend to leave it that way. Make arrangements to clear this issue up. If you do so, you can have your credit report amended to reflect that. You may have had a cash flow issue but that does not define you nor does it mean that it ruins your life unless you do not take the steps to rectify it.
I actually think you had it right in the first place. Go to school on student loans and than move to China. If it makes you feel any better, Ghandi wasn't credit worthy either. You're more than the sum of your credit worthiness even if you aren't famous.
I had to look this guy up to figure out wtf you were talking about. just for that, here's his web page http://www.clarkhoward.com/news/personal-finance-credit/student-loan-guide/nFbc/
cool! I listen to his radio program a lot. He really does have a lot of sound advice, but some of it im sure I will never use. People call in and ask advice on how they should manage hundreds of thousands even millions of dollars worth of money and assets.
Just a tough part in life with health, relationship and finances/career. sorry to bitch. I need a mentor or something.
I'm not the most successful person so a very career oriented person might do well not to take my advice, but I'm also happy as hell and I enjoy life more than most people, so if you wanna know how to do the same, take my advice. My advice is to let go and not worry so much. If you were told you had 6 months to live, would you give a flying fuck about your credit? Honestly, that shit just doesn't matter. Its a man made concept..yeah, it might interfere with your ability to get a house or whatever, but it doesn't interfere with your ability to live and experience joy in life.
nah, you just need perspective with any luck in a couple of years you'll laugh at all this stress is wasteful
Cheer up, you are on the tail end of your treatments and they have been successful from what you wrote before. Life will return to normal and your ability to cope will also do so. I would only say that being stressed does compromise the immune system. That is something that is detrimental to healing, especially in your situation. Sometimes taking the bull by the horns and dealing with it is the best solution. It may be stressful at the time but it also is the only way to clear off issues that cause it in the first place. Work on definite plans to clear up your debt, seek the housing that you need and deal with that as it unfolds. One step at a time is not so overwhelming. With having said that, take the time to take care of yourself.
I'm 27 and I'm about to have to start paying on my loans but I can't afford it. Did you not apply for a loan deferment? Don't freak out too much though, we are sill young enough to straighten everything out. Did you finish school and get a degree? I made the mistake of withdrawing from school before I finished because I was going online and I couldn't concentrate, also it was a crock of shit. I felt like I wasn't learning anything. I know it's not as easy as it sounds, but take it a day at a time. Also if you have bill collectors calling you don't ignore them, let them know you are going through a rough time and you will pay as soon as you can. Sometimes they will work with you...sometimes. Don't freak out though, like Bob Marley said "everything's gonna be alright"
I think defining success in terms of money and creditworthiness is a type of failure. What happens will happen... "it is what it is". I cannot offer specific advice on how to deal with the student loan but I can suggest you work on not letting that define whether or not you are successful. Things have a way of working out. If you contacted your creditor and tried negotiating you may see some measure of resolution there but in the end it's all just money and that's something you won't be able to take with you at the end of the road. Work on your recovery- take up meditation and deal with things just one day at a time. Good luck.
Having a mentor-like relationship wouldn't be a bad thing for you. They are big on that in the teaching profession and I find for me it works really well.
When it comes to money and finances, always remember that you aren't alone...there are millions of people in the world that are in the same boat as you-if not, worse. I did taxes for a guy this week who is filing bankruptcy...want to know why? He's $450K in debt...yes, $450,000!!!! The guy had to move himself and his 3 daughters into his mother's small basement because he's been foreclosed on and now he doesn't know how he's sending his oldest to school next year. The sad part is, he is a very well known electrician in this area. All of the money he is in debt is because of the expenses for his business.
