I just saw it the other day! I thought it was a great piece of docu-film making!

It had a good flow to it, incorporating performances with interviews and footage of them on the train..

The Band and Buddy Guy were great to watch! I thought the Dead were okay too, but Janis sounded awful to me.

Really? The line about 'flaming feet' is soooo potent. I'm rather embarrassed I've never heard it, but life has lessons for us all along the way.

Hey, gypsy gurl, I also see you got the same birthday as me! And you didn't even ask my permission! :p sheeeeesh, some people. :)

Hey, Jim, you gotta be kidding me, here, dude. 'The band and buddy guy were great.......and Janis wasn't!!!!!!' I feel sorry for ya, bro, if ya cannot begin to see what a brilliant performance she gave there, and when she was starting to unravel, too!!! Like Hendrix, who died weeks before her, no one has come close to being as good as that.

Buddy Guy is a very good blues player, but bearing in mind I don't thinks he's any better, now. There are kids today who know more and play better. He's got away with doing pretty low pulse stuff for decades. If you listen to his bit with your eyes closed it is decidedly average. I think you maybe got carried away by the visual scene and his walkabout gimic.

The band didn't even register with me. Those flying Burritto boys were the next best thing after Janis, then the Dead dudes. Janis was the star, and everyone there knew it, man.

Janis Joplin's voice does nothing for me whatsoever. I've given her numerous chances aswell.. I don't like her voice at all, it doesn't sound good to my ears and doesn't move me. Simple as that.

Buddy Guy is fantastic. His influence on countless blues guitarists can't be measured.. I've said this before and i'll say it again.. I bet Eric Clapton still wishes he was Buddy Guy.

He plays the blues with true feel and knows a hell of a lot more and plays a hell of lot better than the "kids today".

I didn't get carried away with the walkabout gimmick either, so don't patronize me.

Fair enough, but you're definitely in the minority here. She sings with the same gut-wrenching emotion conveyed in Buddy Guy's guitar playing.

I know i'm in the minority. Everyone seems to think the sun shines out of Janis' ass.

On a serious note.. I can see what you're saying and that how a lot of people would find her appealing because she's raw and from the heart, but, for me it's just lifeless.

Sorry if that offends anyone. :H

Of course, it doesn't offend me, dude. :) Where would we be if everyone of us liked everything the same? Dullsville.

We shall just have to agree to disagree, as they say. :)
