I'm a capitalist, and I don't think I'm greedy at all.... I mean, if you give me the choice between hamburger or steak, I'll choose steak. But I won't choose ten tons of steak to throw in a deepfreeze the rest of my life, when I'm not even going to eat one (ie. what rich people do with money) Sock away the money for a while, and pick up a nice nissan or honda or subaru.... Might I suggest an s13.... because it's what I personally blew my money on. Can get one running nicely for under a grand. But now I want an s12 to park next to it, because they look so pimp. I guess I just reccomended 3 loud as FUCK car companies.... ehh get a toyota, if you're feeling evil and monopolizing, gas is all but free and they're quiet.
Im a recycler personal use maybe 20 or 25 over the years but Ive technically owned somewhere between 2500 and 3000 plus ive been fixing them since before i was old enough to drive ..
you're much better off doing what Skip said...buy a toyota or honda...it might cost more at first but the fuel and repair savings will more than make it worth the extra...plus if you take care of you can resell it for more than most other cars
bbad, i know you are THE car guy.. and everything ive ever discussed with you checks out to a T (well, anything i've googled). But i don't want to drive a stiff-seat bubble car lookin rice burner any more. riding inthis car makes me feel special. classy maroon pillow top bench seats, this car is EVERYTHING i want in a car.. i haven't test drove this particular one yet, but I'm still dead set on the fifth avenue. every used car is gonna have some problems.. this particular one the driver side wiindow needs some cable fixed. it needs an alignment because the previous owner put shocks(and/or)struts. i cant remember which.. anyways, ill check the suspension system out as thoroughly as i can when the time comes. (tomorrow hopefully). I just realized, bbad.. as you, someone who has a TPB pic in your sig, and has dealt with thousands of cars can appreciate, sometimes you just can't drive that same generic honda civic that everyone drives. I'd really rather have ricky's new yorker, but that's over the practicality barrier,
It's an 18 year old car. It might have a great engine-but everything else is going to start to go. It's the small stuff that's going to kill you. Wiring. Exhaust system. Brakes. Window motors. Window Leaks. Gas tank. Yea each of those things alone isn't expensive-but it adds up-and it takes TIME to fix. Wait till there is some stupid part that you can't find anymore. Or it's got to be shipped from some junkyard on the other side of the country. And what do you do for a car while you're waiting for these parts or to fix it? Just something to think about.
Well I think you should get what you want. A lot of folks need to learn things like that for themselves cause they can't/won't listen to other people. You may really enjoy it till it falls on it's nasty little ass as it's going down the road. And really...you can still look pretty bad-ass sitting in it in back of a tow truck. When I was a broke-ass kid I wanted something cool to drive. What I got were old beat to hell/run forever chevy 6 cylinders (235 straight 6's). They sucked goat dick for being cool but always got me where I needed to be. When I finally had the money I got the cool cars that I wanted. Much as I HATE toyotas the souless bastards make sense for poor folks. Thats what I've told my kids to buy till they could afford better.
I have a 1975 oldsmobile omega. I've done wiring, belts, alternator, radiator/heater core, battery terminal, etc etc. Never had a problem finding gm parts. chrysler may be a different story, though. I expect to do a little work. again, my Omega has a 250 L6 and I think its cool.. fuck everyone tellin me to drop a 350 or a 455 big block or whatever large number their brain can come up with. It's an Omega, not a 442. I am not a broke ass kid, or a poor folk.. My bills are percentaged out rather appropriately, if i do say so myself. I need and can afford a new used car, and I want a livingroom on wheels. I am willing to pay the extra gas money for the luxury. I could buy a 1500 dollar toyota paseo and drive it for ten more years, but for what? to save money? what would I spend the money on? Stuff I enjoy.. What do i enjoy? Cars. any way you cut it, its a step up from my 626, which i cant even trade in because dealers don't want them.
no why does everyone think its their job to tell me what I should drive? does everyone have stakes in these company's stock? I want this chrysler and that's all there is to it...
It's been suggested already- if you can swing a $400 per month payment then wait on the purchase, and save up the cash until you can pay for the car outright and you won't be paying interest to the banksters. I'll spare you my thoughts on anything manufactured by Chrysler because I couldn't give two shits what you drive.
Try selling yourself...works for lots of people around here. I see pimps driving around in Lexuses....
So, wouldn't it be better if he tried selling other people instead? I mean, if it's the pimps driving Lexuses and not the prostitutes, you'd figure pimp is the way he wants to go.
