I drive a '92 Oldsmobile Achieva S (it's the coupe if you decided to Google it, the sedan is oooogly). I don't suggest it, not because it's not a fucking amazing car (it really is, out of all the cars my family's ever owned, it's my favorite), but because they're hard as shit to find. Haha. But I do recommend the fuck out of Oldsmobiles, both the cars I've driven have been Oldsmobiles, and damn...I just love the fuck out of them. But it would be a terrible car to deliver pizzas in, because the engine runs hot and that much stopping and going would really tear it up.

Oh yeah, and I'm also about to be the owner of a '94 Ford Ranger. I hate Ford, but it's free (well...besides the cost of a new clutch kit), so I'll take it. lol

OK, it looks like I will have to try and save up the money and pay cash for something...

but when my transmission goes out (very, very imminent) I will be stuck without a car, and consequently, without a job.. I will come here and thank all of you for the great advice.

as far as shocks busting through the frame, there's a way to reinforce it?

    sometimes

it happened to my kcar once once when I hit some train tracks..both front strut towers let go and the hood was suporting the front end for the ride home..it took a while but we reinforced it and got another few months out of it until I found another car

We're going to fix it and sell it so we can buy a Dodge Dakota directly after I learn how to drive a stick (the Ranger's a manual, the Dakota's not). lol

You realize there are some of us I would gladly except starvation and death rather than face the ignominy of paying monthly installments on a 2,500 dollar car loan [IMG]

Death, dear, I think you're swell and always look forward to your posts, but I do have to say if you make your decision here solely based on the advice of a bunch of strangers from Buttfuck, Wherever, then it will be only on you if things end up not going in your favor. Have you considered talking to the seller of said vehicle to find out if you can pay them in payments? I know not many people are crazy enough to do that, but you never know until you ask.

if hes asking 2500 that means offer 1400 max..

and check out the underneath real good before you buy it..maybe even pay for an inspection or whatever your state has that way you know if there;s any major issues and it only costs an inspection price

    loooooooool.......

What the fuuck? Who designed that shit?
To me, the wheels (according to BBAD, both front AND rear, if I remember right) falling off your car while driving seriously hurts any other luxury that car might offer.

Haha, only if you depend solely on us to make your big decisions, like buying a vehicle. Speaking of which, did you ever buy that Avalanche you were looking at? ;)

Lived there with a toyota for ten years....

Compared to the rest of the cars here, the underside's rusted to shit, but the wheels are still nowhere near falling off :p

my wheels didnt fall off...just the upper strut towers broke off from the body...the hood was crumpled but did a good job of holding everything together

I have another true story...same k-car...I let the wheel bearing get so bad that eventually the front tire seized up...i quickly put it in reverse to break the weld that had formed and still made it home lol...the inner race had wore right through the outer one...there were no steel ball bearings to be found...and I had to even change the knuckle because it wore out the hole so bad
