First punk rock band ever?

    british punk seems to have followed a different trajectory to the states, less garage rock and psych influence, with crossover bands like the stooges and the ramones, over here it more came out of the pub rock movement:

    still a reaction to the guitar gods thing, the DIY element is there, so is the heavier sound, the working class emphasis, but not yet got a political angle and you can still hear the blues root much clearer.

    It was the first album to suck enough to be called Punk.
